And we appointed someone like Moyes, what would people think? I know a lot on here look at the name Moyes, and connect it to '**** United', but at the end of the day for a club like ours he is a very very good manager. People need to remember at the end of the day that there are quite a few decent managers out of work. Another name that would be a good get is Pulis. Again people look at Pulis and think hoofball at Stoke. But at Palace he actually had quite a decent style going, and has shown he has what it takes to progress clubs to a decent level. At the end of the day I really really hope Steve stays, but just trying to say that people don't need to prophecise the end of days if he were to leave.
I'd be delighted with Moyes but disappointed with Pulis. Obviously hope Bruce stays for as long as possible, but should he leave, we couldn't do better than Moyes.
I'd think we had replaced a great manager with another great manager. I'd throw Laudrups name out there as well. Pulis as manager would reduce me to tears. Moyes was given a ridiculously difficult job to do. Which has only just been rectified by over £100 million on transfers.
Where have you got the notion that; A. Bruce is leaving. B. Moyes would be a realistic replacement should A happen. C. Pulls doesn't play anti football. D. The way Allam is carrying on wouldn't deter anyone with a bit of common sense from staying well away from the circus that is currently showing at the KC. In short we need Bruce to go nowhere otherwise we 're ****ed .
I was clearly raising a hypothetical. Also I don't think Pulis played anti-football with Palace, or at least not to the extent he did with Stoke. I think he's realised that he was driven out of Stoke due to his style of play and has gone some way to rectifying that. Also, consider that if he were brought in HYPOTHETICALLY in a few weeks time, he'd be using the squad we have, which is pretty attacking. Again, all a hypothetical, and I really don't want Bruce to leave, just thinking out loud and trying to reassure myself that if he did go it may not be the end of the world.
**** thread, it's like some people want to promote the fact that SB may leave! Also there's no way that I'd agree that Moyes would be a 'great' manager, or a manager we 'couldn't do better than', ffs he held Everton back for years, they're a completely different team now, playing with attacking flair, with Martinez in charge. Ask any Everton fan if they'd have Moyes back in place of Martinez, I already know what the answer would be! Either Bruce stays or we need a manager that has the kind of footballing ethos that matches our current squad. Christ on a bike, some of you are so unimaginative, fooking Pulis or Moyes! Look to Southampton and their manager selection process, copy that and you may just be on to something!
I really dont think he is realistic, but then in saying that the only Prem clubs I can see him at are Newcastle and Sunderland. I can see him abroad as it goes, maybe Rangers. Interesting that you say that as I know Wigan fans who had season tickets for years who stopped going under Martinez because of the dour, defensive, low scoring football served up. They were delighted when he left. Again interesting, wind back a month and nearly every pundit and indeed poster on here was tipping them for relegation. I remember posting against the grain being almost a lone voice in saying the impact of their departures had been overstated and they would be fine. I'd say there's about a 1% chance of them going down. On the flipside I did tip Swansea to go down....
To all those people having a go at Moyes, I 100% believe if last season he'd been given the fixtures that Van Gaal has this season (swapping QPR for another promoted team, us perhaps) then he'd have a 100% winning record so far. Basically I'm saying Moyes had a massively tough start and Van Gaal has had a piece of piss one and he's not done very well.
Until Bruce leaves it's a non-issue. But I feel the same about all the threads about the name change, until the FA allow it to be voted on again that is also just as much a non-starter and yet people discuss it like it is a serious issue worth discussion when at this point it shouldn't be.
So you don't think it's a serious issue and it isn't worth discussing ? I think most people would disagree with that and looking at the posts over the last few days confirms you are wrong
Moyes was only ever a stop gap replacement to Fergie There had to be a buffer between Fergie and the next big name Moyes may be a big name but I'd rather stick with Bruce and what he is building if given the choice But would be happy with Moyes if his doctrine is similar Not Pulis though he looks like a thumb wearing a hat
