Leeds seemed to be slow and lathargic when they started off against birmingham , we need to be quicker at start of matches this will give us more of a spark , i also hope leeds get an ex defender as manager then he might be able to show leeds how to defend.
I think we have looked okay defensively last couple of games. Some people slagging off Bellusci but think he is organizing the defense well, Pearce seems to be benefiting from him in my opinion.
I think we have some way to go with the defence, but I see it as being a developmental/gelling problem rather than a catastrophic problem. They just need time to settle down together (minus Pearce IMO, but that's another discussion). Problem for me is the interaction of forwards/midfield. Too much space between the two for a start, & no through running from MF. It seem to be a rarity to see someone from MF ghosting into the box these days. More likely to be standing 30 yards out, passing the ball sideways.
For me its the damn diamond that's hurting us, teams can get into our half far too easily ... we start to look better typically after half time when we tweak things a bit ... get rid of the diamond now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I really enjoyed watching the team pass the ball, especially from the back. Seems to be a gap between midfield and forwards. Hope with the additions of Adryan and Montenegro, we can be even more fluent. Its going to take a while to change our style of play from hoofball to passing, but if you look at the team just a month ago, we could not string two passes together
9 goals against in 6 matches and the defence is fine ? we need more goals also 4 in 6 matches , the strikers on saturday were static we need more movement from them , hope sharp can adjust to championship level i do like sharp though he needs to now concentrate on the next match although his debut was terrific he needs now to put his debut behind him and go for every ball and chance if he wants to be top striker in championship. they are gelling slowly hope they get better we are still 19th but think we will move up the league but we need wins , goals , and a good defence.
The goal scored by Sharp on his debut was a gimme. He did well to follow up the rebound and be in the right place, but nobody would have missed that.
Sharps kept himself fit at Southampton, but the lack of first team football has made him rusty. Hopefully, he'll just need game time cos he's done nothing to impress yet
What do you think is wrong with the defense. Your pointing out some cold hard facts but personally I'm not constantly ****ting myself every time the defense has to try and do anything. I'm not a massive fan of passing it out of defense (I blame Football Manager on that) but think where doing it pretty well. Cook and Mowatt seem to link together very well with the defense. The last thing I want to do is scare you away () from the forum, but these are just stats - what are your real points here? In relation to the attack, I'm not overly concerned. I feel the team will start ticking over quite nicely and Antenucci has something I like. Sharp is a decent poacher and Doukara is a big pacey lad who will do well for us. Turning to your comments about Sharp, I don't understand. Adjust to the Championship? His career has been mainly in the Championship.
Agree, Sharp has been out on loan to Forest and Donny last few seasons. Antenucci, I'm not sure about. Shows some nice touches, tried to be too clever a few times with forward balls down the wing, which didn't quite work. I hope he's not one of those luxury players.
I see what your saying with Antenucci. It has certainly been hit and miss so far. I just get this underlying feeling this bunch of lads at some point in the season are going to really click and I think with confidence he will get a good handful of goals, 10/15 maybe.
Certainly agree with you. Also, Bianci has settled in well, and with Cook / Mowatt offering fresh legs, and some lovely touches, I'm excited by our midfield Sloth has been good over the two games, and we still have Adryan to come.
The defence is not fine, agreed, but we're getting there. We lost 8 in our first 4 matches, but only 1 in the last 2 matches. We chopped & changed our CB partnerships in the first 4 matches, but we've settled on Bellusci/Pearce for the last 2. To me, a steady CB partnership is essential for a successful team. Hopefully, we're over the worst now & can start to build on what we've got. Scoring goals is more of a concern to me. I'm hoping it'll all come together, but cannot see it for the time being.
1 goal conceded in 2 games under Redfearn, that's what I'm looking at. I don't count Hockaday's tenure as a proper gauge as to what this defence is like. For me it's pretty solid, and the more games they play the better they'll get. Berardi and Bellusci have only just got here, same with Cooper. Plus Charlie Taylor's looking good. No need to worry about the defence, it's the best one with quality cover for each position we've had for years
Thinking back redfearns first matches he usually gets the team wound up great but after that he seems to start drawing and then losing hope its different this time neil redfearns record so far in all matches in league in charge of leeds won 3 lost 3 and drawn 1 what do you all think of that ?
Id like to think the defence is well on the way to being sorted but we need to remember how poor opposition has been in last two games and our keepers pulled off some great saves, which of course is what he's paid for. I still get the feeling, we could be suspect against a decent strike force
