Sorry, I'm no Nazi but I just couldn't resist. You nearly broke the internet with that many spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes.

I don't normally predict on here, nor re-post it, but it is relevant; the negativity over this game was astounding. The truth is, Leon, you could so easily have made some coin there (good call, almost!!), but a 2 goal difference against a decent Swiss team, at theirs, is pretty damn satisfying - especially when you consider we fielded a development eleven.

    Spot on!

Admittedly, it was a heart over head bet.

I felt the scene was reminiscent of the big victories I referenced and as you say, it could have quite easily come in.

The opening exchanges gave rise to that hope.

    Oh well, nevermind.

Yes, a dam good development eleven it was too, Roy should have took this tact two years ago.
Maybe the ****ness of the world cup has given him the bang on the head he needs, looks promising and im genuinely excited about The national team for the first time in years

    Aaaaand the cycle begins again...

Promising youngsters perform well in league
    Smash the qualifying campagin
    Get excited for major tournament
    Fail at said major tournament
Everyone disappointed, "we won't win anything ever again"
    New crop of promising youngsters
    Smash qualifying
Get excited for the future/next major tournament

    Repeat
    Repeat
    Repeat...

Your best bet would be to save your excitement for 3 years or so. If Stones and Chambers can emerge, and if we can find a top-notch holding man to sit behind the Barkleys and Sterlings, then 2017 onwards could be promising.

Sorry Tuckin, we've been saying things like this for years... But nothing ever changes...

They're just the next bunch of slightly promising youngsters who we can pin all of our hopes on, but will end up failing miserably.

You only have to look at past "future England team" predictions to see how far off we can be.

Not so long ago, Jack Wilshere was the next big thing, and the man that England should build their entire squad around. Even worse, remember when it was Michael Johnson? <yikes>

I haven't been saying it for years. We're midway through a slump - the current generation at their peak are sub-standard. The 2002-2010 generation was better than this one, and the 2017-2024 one will be too.

Seeing all three of Stones, Chambers and a top-class holding midfielder emerge is of course a best-case scenario, but it could happen - it's only three players. Most of the other areas of the team (both now and four years from now) are closer to the required level, thanks to Hart, Sterling, Barkley, Shaw (in future years), Rooney (for now), Sturridge etc.

(PS: Wilshere may yet come good - but not in the holding role. And who knows how good Johnson could have been without his horrendous off-field meltdown.)

Just watching a replay of Arsenal v Man C. It's an illustration of just how good Wilshere can be when his mind is right - and also an illustration of where his best position is.

Woy's efforts to make him a holding midfielder have a strong whiff of round pegs and square holes.

Henderson should be the anchoring midfielder and Wilshere more attacking. He's got them two in the wrong positions.
