@bbcburnsy: Some good Hull City news, Abel Hernandez has got his Visa. I suspect he'll be on the bench on Monday night. #hcafc

That's the kind of circumstance I wouldn't think he'd be brought on.

I want to see him start to repay his transfer fee. Having seen Shane Long be an absolute nuisance for Southampton against Newcastle - I am gutted we chose to cash in on him. £6m profit is great, but is this gamble going to pay off?

Long was one of our most effective players last season so there was no reason to think that would stop continuing. It was always a gamble.

It all had to have been before the window closed. Otherwise the FA wouldn't of sanctioned it.

You miss the point completely. You also appear to be one of those 'fans' that judges a player only on goals scored. I'm afraid it's simply not that straight forward.

I may have the wrong end of the stick here but Shane Long is a number 7. Fact.

Also if we were to give the number 9 shirt to, say, Paul McShane, does that mean his performances should only be judged on number of goals scored?

If we're comparing numbers to there traditional roles then Jelavic was the traditional number 9 for us last season. Long was more the quick nippy number 10.

Jelavic is #18 so only needs to score half as many as Hernandez, right?

Incredible that anyone doesn't think Long was good for us.

Even if you are a bit dim and do just look at goal records, his wasn't even bad. Along with Jelavic it was probably the best record of any City striker for years.

The bizarre thing is people on here moaned about Jelavic not long ago and Long was seen as the more skillful one. Now Long's gone he was **** all along. We're not Leeds fans ffs.
