http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...n-jol-keen-to-keep-david-stockdale-but-plans- David Stockdale on a loan deal, what is everyones thoughts? Seems to have a link to Leeds as he was born here & had recently moved up the pecking order in the England camp (but thats not exactlly hard at the moment!) I wouldnt mind getting him in although I dont think a loan deal is a great move for a goalkeeper.
Dont think there is any chance. Playing there first game tonight, in what could be a long season, why would they send on loan the keeper, whos been in england squad, and who many think might end up first choice for fulham. Leeds need a keeper, he's from Leeds, 2 + 2 = 5 Poor lazy newspaper. I could look really silly but think its complete bul sh it
He did play well for Fulham last season when deputising for Schwarzer...would be a great signing I reckon but like you say LIW fulham have got a long old season and sending there No2 out on loan would be a trifle foolish I imagine, unless they are getting a new keeper in
Morning Wakey. I'd have gone for the same conclusion mate, but looks like Jol wants him loaned out - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_7010891,00.html - v.strange decision in my opinion! I still don't think we want a loanee in. We need someone who knows what they're doing with the confidence to organise a defence, I can't see how a loanee can be that player.
Stocky is a cracking keeper, and i think many LCFC fans would have accepted his return had we not signed Kasper. If this was SG's replacement then he has done well! I mean he plied his trade for the Minstermen in his younger years so he knows Yorkshire well!
Bloody hell Looks like am wrong, strange move for me. If were going down that road of loaning a keeper, great move But where is the long term planning
yeah the long term planning would be out of the window on that score...but who knows whats to happen in a year...fulham may well look to sell...tho we most likely wouldnt be able to afford him
Can't say I'd be happy with a loanee unless it has a clause saying we can sign him up at the end of the season. Or 'with a view to a permanent move' as the cliche drones might put it.
I think I can see the long term planning here: - We sign him on loan for the season. - He helps us get promoted. - We offer him a contract with us and the promise of regular first team Premiership football - He signs. I know things are never that simple but I imagine this is what Grayson would have in mind. MOT
I suggested Stockdale on the Hull board this morning, when I saw Jol's comments, as Pearson already loaned him when he was at Leicester. The odd thing about this, is that he played well when Schwarzer was out injured last season and he's their No.2 keeper, so why would they let him go out at all? They do have two international keepers listed in their reserve squad, but neither have ever played a league game for Fulham, one is 40(Swiss) and seems to be a coach who registered as a player in case of emergencies, the other one bizarrely has 22 international caps(Philippines), but has never played in a league game at all.
I think we all think he's a gd keeper and would do the job but the danger is if there is an injury and he gets called back. This would disrupt the defensive unit and may come at a time when a replacement could not be brought in due to the closure of the transfer / loan market
