Never really posted much before. At game today, absolute no competition as soon as pelle got first. Pelle will be awesome for us despite some dissenters on this board. Please all Saints fan embrace these times, I think they will be exciting, we will have our disapointments, but this is the most enthusuistic I have been since the 1990 season
After the doom and gloom of the window, the sight of a team really clicking and charging after 3 games is absolutely fantastic. As much as I loved the team last year I love this one even more for not being ****e. They could so easily have struggled but they are thriving. It's a massive relief cant help but love it. And Liverhampton are struggling. Sweeter and sweeter.
Yes it's early (I remember when newspapers didn't bother with league tables until ten games had been played) but it's already clear that our midfield has if anything, improved, purely from experience and confidence. Savvy replacements in defence mean that we are no more vulnerable than last year too but mainly, I'm filled with the sneakiest of suspicions that we've landed two absolute beauties in Pelle and Tadic. One's going to line them up and one's going to bang them in. I hope those that backed Pelle as top scorer at 100/1 took him each way because I don't think he'll be far behind Costa if he keeps this up.
It's a shame we can't play Fulham again. They were the only other team last season as bad as Newcastle at St. Mary's.
I'm a great believer in casting a casual eye after 6 games and assessing things after 10 games. Bollox to all that though. We need a Norwegian style commentator: "Brenda Rogers, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw, Mauricio Podgytinno, Callum Chambers... Your boys are below us in the league!" #middlefinger (Even if it is daft to look after 4 games) #milkitwhilewecan
The way we are playing speaks volumes. Isnt Schnidders joint top scorer with 3, level with Pelle? (not counting cups) Thats unreal. Corky got his first ever 2 goals for the club. Big Vic got in the box today. For all our style and posession last season, this time around we have found some drive to score. We just didn't have that last year. Perhaps we were too regimented, too dependent on 'the stars'. I think we will find out this season how good those former stars are but focussing on the good stuff we have some scorers in the team and have yet to see Mane and JRod take the pitch.
I suppose the question we should now be asking is.....had we kept all our stars....would we be where we are today? For me the answer would be no......This team to me so far is definitely more exciting. Am I being too judgemental? Or is it too early.....
It does feel better for me, probably because of the transfer window we had. At times even the most optimistic amongst us would have been sweating and worried. To come out of that with a team that by early accounts is just as capable (if not more so) as last years is a massive relief. Add to that the certain X factor of having a new core of players yet to be fully integrated or at their most effective is enthralling and i get far more excited before games right now just for a chance to see what these guys can do.
I think we also needed to have more confidence in the ones that remained. We were all guilty of thinking that the removal of the 'stars' meant we were a bad side....we still had a strong frame for new players to be slotted into.
