Back to the OP. You can walk along the South Bank of the Thames from Tower Bridge up as far as Battersea Park. Not on the North bank though, there's lots of restrictions.

Walking the South Bank on a summers day makes a cracking day out. You can start on the civilised side of the river at St Pauls then go across the millenium bridge, visit the Tate Modern, most of which is free, then stroll up to the BFI (British Film Institute) which also has some free exhibitions. Then finish by walking back over Westminster Bridge past the place Celtic mad Guido Fawkes tried to blow up. All good.

Be warned though - saaf of the river is Jonno Ackers territory- and they're all a bit - ahem - eccentric.

Something I've not yet done but must do one day is mudlarking on the Thames foreshore. Anyone done it? Find anything good?

There is a rape advert with a scotch girl and a young boy frightened to play his recorder that makes me think of you Gamby.

    This <applause>

I recommend crossing to the north side of the river from time to time just to try and get the smell to go away, but otherwise the South Bank walkway is probably the most civilised bit of the dirty south. Gordon's Gin Bar is always worth a stop, and there are loads of nice places to sit outside and admire the dirty thames water.

From Tower Bridge eastwards along the North bank is quite nice down into Wapping. The whole place is rapidly becoming Ragheidshire though.

Thankz 4 da help guise, but I meant staying on the North Bank. Judging by the pics I've seen, it doesn't look like there's a walkway. The lovely folks on the QPR board reckon it's got to be done on the South Bank. The Home Counties ****s on the Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal boards didntt answer.

Before soneone says it, yes, I should probably have asked on the United board because we have plenty of fans in London.

You should have asked on the Charlton Board. It's looking like those ****s can walk on water.

    EDIT

The aforementioned Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea fans did answer. Though it was too late to be of any use anyway.

Just take a copy of this with you, Jip.

And beware of footpads and cutpurses as you go.

Legend has it that one day a telephone with a tiny screen could display a map so you have no need to ask other humans...

I've tried that smartarse. But it was unclear on Google Earth, I didn't know if the bit that appears blocked was a tunnel or something.
