    Cesc - Leads by example.

I am not saying that we have anyone at the moment who leads like Tony Adams, just that all your comments (on all threads) are seriously negative. Believe in the team mate, we are not that far away from having a great side.

i agree cesc isn't a leader. he leads by example sure, but can you see him standing in the dressing room and giving a big, empassioned speech before leading the team out? i can't. i can see RvP doing it tho, and he should have the respect of the team too.

    Potential candidates now and future:
    Sagna
    Clichy (unlikely)
    Vermaelen
    Wilshere
    Ramsey
    Nasri
    Van Persie

Might Song be a good one? I remember his interview on the BBC a while back and he definitely seemed the sort of person who has a great understanding of those around him as well as being articulate. The extra responsibility may force him to attack less and spend time organising himself and the defence. His is a key player for us and I think he commands enough respect, and is loyal enough, to be our captain.

Vermaelen was the captain of Ajax by the time he was 20.

    He's certainly Captain material.

Dunno about the great team part, we have had our good wins (Barcelona, man u) but I haven't seen anywhere near the consistency needed to be described as a great side.

The cult of Eboue really seems to have died out hasn't it? Pitty, I found it funny.

Vermalen for me is the natural choice of captain, he captained Ajax before he came to us, he always gives 100% and is in a natural captains position.

2nd in command for me is Szczesny... loud and crazy hopefully not to like Lehmann

So basically, we need Scott Parker.

Every team goes through a rough patch, this is ours. Things should improve within a year or two.
