But there's always a chance of getting points from a good team. Settling for a loss if offered before a match would always guarantee you zero points.
Valley I agree - whereas Laudrup had an overly pessimistic attiude at times when playing top teams (but had a decent record to be fair) Monk sets his team up to be fearless and that's good. But sometimes you have to acknowledge we were not good enough on the day and the best team won.
Because nobody expected us to get anything today, it's a free game in terms of points. The next couple of games are targeted for points. 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. I'll settle with that. Chelsea were outstanding today.
3 wins out of 4 games , with away games at Old Trafford and Stamford bridge already under our belt . We starrted well and had a bit at the end.Little worried about how easily their players ran past Fernandez untouched .
We lost the midfield today, and Shelvey doesn't do it for me, I hope he improves, but he is our weak link at the minute, never mind it was a big ask to beat Chelsea with their front line, maybe if Gomis had put that sitter away we could have got a foot in at 2-2!..............
The first Chelsea goal did it for me, it came at the wrong time and meant their players went in to the break on a high and ours didn't have time to settle the game down.
Yeah, I said just before they scored that we needed half time. It's as if that goal sucked the energy right out of us.
Ahh well, was always a big ask. Haven't seen anything of the match yet only read the comments but it looks like we started really well until Chelsea decided to turn up and more or less strolled to the win. Next up Southampton who are currently third! Hopefully we can bag 3 points.
Evenish 1st half but another capitulation in the second. Midfield disappeared again. Sorry but, even though he scored, Jonjo had another poor game. Chelsea very good for their win and showed the difference in quality.
Fantastic effort from the lads....well happy how we played the title contenders. no complaints about the score at all and chelsea know they have been in a game....well done the lads..
We'll still be 2nd or 3rd at the end of the weekend, so still looking pretty good. And that's after have played two of the big 7 away already. Looks good for the season ahead. But we need to make sure we get the points against Southampton. Happy overall, despite the 2nd half performance. That's just the way it is sometimes. If we'd gone 2-0 or 2-2 it could have been different. Games often turn on those missed chances. And their first goal right on half time didn't help at all.
70% happy with that, first loss of season to some very expensive good players and we kept the score respectable-ish to. Our lads gave a good account of themselves again.
Chelsea pressed us high up, which left gaps behind which our forward line didn't take enough advantage of, Siggy was very quite second half too which didn't help, what you have to remember regarding Chelsea is that while they have a strong front line and midfield, defensively they are fragile, and we should have made more of those gaps at the back, Chelsea under pressure are there for the taking, but our Strikers really need to show some cutting edge in the final third, as they are being carried at the minute!..... PS: Garry Monks post match interview is class!..........
