I suppose it depends on how much you value your reputation and credibility; his have a low stock at the moment. For a man who lives off his CV and 'trust me' dictum, I think he has paid a very high price. Think on.
In a sense. Ever since we've been in the Premier League, we've been in the news with him appearing in a host of interviews to a Worldwide audience. What better advertising campaign than making the Club look as though a new owner, who could drop the whole name change situation, bring back our badge and be liked by the whole fan base. It'd make me interested if I was mega-rich and wanted to be loved by a group of fans.
Unless I missed it I don't think he said that at all, he said that he would 'give it away', and it was probably a bit of a heat of the moment faux pas, after all we all know that pressers are not really his area of expertise/comfort, but I'm pretty certain that he could 'give it away' to a family member without it costing him too much.
To quote Tickles only time will tell on that, one thing's for sure though, love him or loathe him, he has ensured that we have been thrust into the spotlight once again, and when any prospective buyer looks at the club as a PL acquisition they may just think, why not. The added benefit, by design or not, and as Candy has already pointed out, is that any new owner would immediately be admired/loved by the fans if they were to come in and squash the name change speculation as their first act.
I don't think he intends to appeal properly at all. I think he knows that it would fail, and that by saying he is going to appeal, or putting in an appeal that fails, he gets to saves face on the whole name change and walk away in 24 hours issue. He's not doing it for the club, it's all for his own ego: he'll get to sell the club, and hold his deluded head up high. The strange thing is, he could have done this after the FA result anyway. It's a shame he had to create such a PR disaster, when a statement being released would have been enough. Edit: also, from what I've seen, the press as been quite kind to us so far.

Any clues on who the alleged sponsor was that withdrew on the day the name change was rejected? If they existed at all, the timing of the withdrawal could be incidental and not related to the name change.
No sign of the lawnmower then? A pity, surely it would have been more interesting than listening to that tosh.
