Yes, please feel free. In another 1000 years ( probably far less) you will succeed only in replacing one elite with a new one.

Makarios was an exceptional leader , he was for enosis with the great majority of the Greek Cypriot population ( always the dream but not allowed by an enforced
comprised constitution , veto vote for Muslim pop , flag of convenience 'British
    bases etc )
and led them through a bitter struggle for inderpendance against the British who were backed by 18% Turkish
population . He was steadfast and reigned in Grivas's EOKA.
During the Cold War he was overthrown by colonels sponsored coup ( backed by US ) which bulls up
led to the Turkish invasion and occupation of about 40% of the island. The West was always scared that he throw
his lot in with the Soviets.
I see your point of comparison , the struggles and risks were on another scale , but one was adored by nearly all his people till this day the other by a arguably
    a minority of his.

    That's quite a good turnout.

The break down was about a million votes for labour, about half a million each for lib dems, snp and Tories.

So in terms of labour vs Tory, it's about half a million votes difference, with Tories having almost half the support of labour.

So about 30% of those who voted in Scotland have exactly the government it voted for. (Lib dem and conservatives together)

About 44% of the Scottish population voted for a government that wasn't elected. The rest either didn't vote or voted for the current government.

Under 40% of Englands votes went for the Tories, approx 63% if you add in the lib dems.

I just think the whole, we don't get a government we vote for thing isn't quite as clear cut as people make out and in general there's lots of people in every country of the uk who don't get the party they vote for. Just like half of Scotland after this referendum is going to be left with a country they didn't vote for.

Edit: forgot to add that in England the turnout was 65.5% so more of the population of England cared and turned up to make a difference to the government than in Scotland.

Just about every major Scottish bank has said quite clearly that in the event of a Yes vote that they will move south of the border. Thats apart from other major institutions like Standard life also saying pretty much the same thing. Salmond's response? Well, of course, it's scaremongering! Is that really the best he can come up with? Exactly how stupid does he think the Scottish people are?

This is not some politician saying these things - making unsubstantiated claims, it's the actual institutions themselves telling people what their future plans are in the event of a Yes vote.

Is that similar to Luca di Montezemelo telling Ferrari staff at lastweekend's Italian Grand Prix that he would be staying for at least 3 years? By Tuesday he was gone!

If the vote is no will that be an end to it or will the yes campaign look for another referendum in 5years time and keep on having them until they get a win?

You beleive what you want to beleive I'll stick to the facts. RBS has written to all its staff explaining that this is purely a contigency. The same noises were made before devolution. If Scotland go's for it's own parliament we are all going South! They all stayed and flourished.

Scare mongering my arse. It's what salmond and his cronies tried to hide from the Scottish people and that should send out alarm bells to every scot...that's not scare mongering thats fact that will effect peoples lives and something that people need to know...
