According to the SLP hack Rich Cawley, Powell has been quoted as saying that Dailly will return to Sparrows Lane tomorrow Thoughts .... (I'd kind of got used to the idea that he wouldn't be with us anymore)
As an experienced head he is invaluable. I wonder if he'll start down the coaching route soon, he seems like manager material.
That's fine... assuming they're not planning for him to be 1st team. We have several youngsters in the squad and sure he can be a good influence with his experince. Happy for him to be part of the squad, but as CB# 3 or 4.
The guy took a contract which wasn't worth the piece of paper it was written on last season, so much his desire to play for us. So in turn, I would like the club to stand by him and give him a playing/coaching role. His experience in the squad will be invaluable even if he isn't a starting player.
Dailly was the rock in our defence the season before last. He did have a bit of an off season, but then SO did the whole team. I would like to see him play, providing he's fit and can keep up (and not get suspended frequently). And lets face it too, we don't have any player in the team, strong enough to be our Captain... And considering we've got quite a few new players, I'd be quite hesitant giving it to one of them. For next season our captain has to be either (1) Jackson or (2) Dailly.
I know the guy who handed it to him! As for how he played, that is a mystery. Bizarre how he went from Mr Reliable to Mr Inconsistent. Still feel we owe a bit of a debt to Christian. People bang on about players loyalty, well it would be nice for the club to show some to a player who has tried to be a standout servant in his short time with us.
Standout servant.....I dont get that one at all,out of contract last summer got no other offers so resigned and probably the same scenario this time round. He wants to continue playing no one else wants him so he resigns end of. He`s okish though dont reckon last seasons por form was a one off just age catching up with him. Granted was decent the season before BUT surely just a squad player next season..captain your having a laugh.
He did have offers, one being from Dundee I think.. The Scottish club where he started his career. Turned them down to repay the fans who voted him POTY. Does a lot of work behind the scenes and takes his responsibility as club captain very serious on and off the pitch.
He doesn't use an agent either, which gets him a few Brownie points in my book. SC, who is the woman in your avatar?
Tough one, mt. Only Dundee and CD will know the offers, but I'd be very surprised if it was less than what we paid him.
I'm not too disappointed that Dailly is staying. Good captain. Good influence on the younger players.
Southend offered him more than we did this time last year and he stuck with us please log in to view this image
But, as an aside, should we all change our Avatars to Gemma Arterton... would improve the look of the site, not that Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny Robinson isn't a legend an' all...
