Why didn't levy ask the simple question if it's such a great idea to change our name then why hasn't Manchester city or Manchester United done it? And that success on the pitch is the best way for world recognition?
Still the media give him an easy ride with questions like "How much are you looking for?" They continue to entertain his nonsense rather than question the complete bollocks that makes it up. He says he stuck to his word by putting it up for sale within 22 hours, but Ehab's already given the excuse for not doing so, which was that it was a metaphor all along, so which is it? Was it a metaphor you never intended to stick to or did you stick to your word? He says we just need a shorter name; two words only, rather than the three he incorrectly thinks it is at the moment. Yet it was him who came up with Hull City Tigers and it didn't exist before then. Why don't the media ever press him on this stuff and highlight the bollocks?
No local press will alienate themselves because he'll ban them from the stadium! It's his way or do one!
It was posted on this board and commented on by OLM, myself, and others over two hours ago. Why are you bothering to take things off CI which were probably nicked from here in the first place?
This ^ plus as Citywall posted, there may have been all sorts if negatives thrown at his performance today but I would love to know if any of the negative posters had managed, throughout their whole career, to create such a sales platform from which to sell something, anything, at such a low cost. The media coverage that he's received today is literally worth millions yet it's cost him sweet FA. Think on.
Steve Brady says that Assem Allam never put a bid in for the freehold of the KC http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-Council-offer-Allam-freehold-KC-Stadium/story-22912334-detail/story.html
Oh yeah, let's all join hands and thank Messrs. Brady and Geraughty for being such up front and honest human beings, lol
There's never been any doubt that he's a shrewd businessman, and is always keeping us in the media, always in the public eye. I bet the FA Cup run last Season was a dream scenario to get us on Worldwide TV in the Final again. The only downside is we have to suffer with his moronic claims and ideas whilst he keeps us in the 'shop window'.
Because like the majority (all?) of the local journalists he is a fawning sycophant who is in awe and wonder at the greatness of Dr Allam and he doesn't want to do anything that might incur a stadium ban for the organisation he represents or individuals in their employ.
Sorry if this has been posted already, I've been out since I was last posting. CTWD statement on arbitration and ownership City Till We Die is confident that the Football Association’s decision to reject the “Hull Tigers” name remains fair and just and that Hull City AFC can prosper under the current or new ownership. CTWD is disappointed to learn that Chairman Dr. Allam intends to appeal to the Court Of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the Football Association’s rejection of his plan to rename Hull City Association Football Club to “Hull Tigers”. Hull City has enjoyed a period of relative stability since the FA turned down the name change application after a thorough and fair process. The Allam family have continued to support the club’s manager Steve Bruce in the transfer market and the club has experienced a first ever FA Cup Final and a historic, but sadly short, European campaign. These momentous firsts, continued Premier League football, a record shirt sponsorship deal and strong season ticket sales in spite of a massive price rise have been achieved by Hull City AFC, our best ever manager Steve Bruce and owners Assem and Ehab Allam. CTWD continue to support the Allam’s ownership of the club. We remain grateful that in 2010 they secured the future of the club when it was uncertain and we appreciate their positive contributions to the club’s history in the four years since. However we still see no justifiable reason to change the name of a football club that has existed and been a pillar of the local community since 1904 and we know that a significant number of the club’s fans agree. The Football Association were convinced that this was the case in April and we are confident that there are no grounds for CAS to overturn any decision achieved by such a rigid process. Should CAS support the FA’s decision – Dr. Allam will look to sell the club. This was always going to happen at some point as the Allams are not, by their own admission, “football people” and they stepped in to secure the club for the city and ensure a lasting legacy. Their input means the club is in far better shape on the field than it was when they took over and for that - we thank them. We remain happy to work with the owners, old or new, on issues that matter deeply to fans of Hull City AFC and especially the 1,800 members of City Till We Die.
Happy will find something to be outraged about in there and a few of the usual numpties will say we just want to be back in League 2 or whatever, but as always it's an excellent statement.
There's a group on Facebook called, Hull City's Silent Majority and it's pretty funny (a pisstake group). Just to give you a clue as to what it's like, it just posted this: "We are aware of the CTWD campaign. We are aware of those against the name change. We are NOT aware of those who support change. We are NOT aware of those who are impartial. The Silent Majority are indeed silent, and they should be counted, just as those who support CTWD have been counted. Make yourself heard, and make it known that you are part of the Silent Majority."
cant put it any better !!! I really cant understand our owners logic in the need to change the name of our club . We are now turning into a recognised club across Europe and beyond as Hull City or 1904 , depending on what they look at . There has never been a better time to recognise our club brand than right bloody now , and the hoped for extra income a name change is alleged to bring is small fry really
