Katrien: we want a share of QPR fine

If the new financial fair play regulations are enforced and not challenged in the courts, they should benefit clubs like Charlton who have managed their finances prudently.

Earlier this week Charlton chief executive Katrien Meire was on a panel on the business side of football in Manchester. She put the case for clubs like Charlton to receive a share of any fine imposed on QPR which could be as much as £2m for the Addicks: Fair Play. She estimated that Charlton had lost £12.8m in its effort to get back to the Premier League: quite a conservative figure in my view given the money that was wasted on players who didn't deliver.

At the moment the money is destined to go to charity, but perhaps it could be shared between charities and the clubs.

    Cheers Belfast.
The first time in years I have been really excited about a new release!
I feel like a teenager and I turned 50 earlier in the year. Pretty poor effort if this is my mid life crisis eh?

This is one of the most laughable comments I've seen on a football forum - Kiwi - did you mean this for your joke thread? ;)

It's like giving a shoplifter a share in the spoils of a bank robbery because they didn't pocket as much.

How should it be implemented - perhaps the most profitable club could benefit the most? I'd look forward to the point where clubs let all contracts run down and replace them all with the youth team players just so they could pocket not only their savings but those of any club in the red - should improve the standard of football no end.

Amongst the chaos, I'd most look forward to the point where the keys to the Valley get handed over to Arsenal (or whoever else it is that turns a profit).

Hail our socialist football club owning comrades.

Errr... how about putting it straight into grass roots football rather than a Championship club? Selfish bitch :p

Katrien: we want a share of QPR fine...

Well dear Katrien you can do one. How very unprofessional of this chief executive to stick their ore in and comment on something that's not 100% cast in iron yet. I bet this will go to court for sure.

It would be good if the club made a statement on this issue, maybe Tony has some top legal people checking this out as we speak?

    Jog on Katrien.....

Is this the same Charlton that sacked Chrissy Powell and is going to act as a feeder for a Belgian club? They can fook off.

If TF gets top lawyers on this we'll drive a coach and horses through the regulations on equality alone. How can one country operate two different FFP set-ups which are both different from UEFA's?

This will run and run and in the meantime TF & Co can earn interest on whatever sum is finally demanded until M'learned friends blow it out of the water...

Jeez, other football clubs are circling us like a load of scavengers around a corpse. Surprised Charlton are first in line. I would have expected this behaviour from other Championship clubs ahead of Charlton. I used to view them as inoffensive. My opinion on them has now changed.
