Don't be daft. Ireland doesn't have electricity yet do they?

    <laugh>

    Seriously,
    RTE.

BBC isn't available without cable or satellite. Nor do they contribute via license to BBC... instead through subscription fees.

I think the Scots will vote no to independence and keep devolution which apparently works better for them. I think it shows how little England cares about itself or its image as it doesn't care about those with devolution voting on English affairs. If England doesn't care about devolution and who walks all over it then England won't care about independence for Scotland. I went canvassing for the Tories in 1997 and couldn't get the English to remotely become interested whether or not the others voted on English affairs and not vice versa. Devolution gives the simple minded Scots power over England which they enjoy.

Now there's a Norwegian writing in facebook about how long it took for them to become solvent after independence way back and how much things cost in Norway as a result ie £9 for a pint and a five door car which costs more than double in Norway than the UK. Scotland will face the same problems, a lot of hardship before they become solvent and it can take decades or more.

I'd like to get rid of the Scots because I don't think we'd be worse off without them and Cameron is up there to persuade them to vote no to save his own skin.

Labour would probably never hold a majority in Westminster again which would be a bloody good thing so please Scotland, vote yes.

I think devolution for everyone works best. Scotland, Wales. N. England, S. England, London and N. Ireland should each have devolved powers.

There's a woman on facebook quote "England's love bombing of Scotland is a pathetic afterthought." Good God, this gives total credence to my view that Scots are obsessed with England and obsessed with the idea that they think we care.

Devolution is unimportant to England Milk and where would you draw the dividing line between north and south? Yorkshire and Cornwall are the only two counties I've heard bleat on about independence for themselves and how the hell would it work? Let's have four independent countries.

I suppose we could do our usual generous act by giving Scotland billions in foreign aid should they vote yes. We give too much to those overseas as it is.

    "We give too much"

Look back at the history of England and the British empire and I'll think you will find England has taken much much more than it has given to foreign countries.

The Empire was a case of "To the victor the spoils, woe unto the defeated." A right of war King.

So what's to stop BBC Scotland continuing as is?

Scotland pay something like £300m a year in license fees, are you suggesting the BBC bosses would be happy to forfeit that income and also pay money to block the transmissions to Scotland somehow. My sister gets BBC and she lives in Holland.

And still you continue. Why are you so concerned with Scotland's future? What is it to you?

Is that why the leaders of the 3 main Political parties are so desperate to keep us? Because no one in England cares?

    Aye, that makes perfect sense.

That's where you're wrong. The result affects the future of the entire U.k. Not just Scotland.

It seems to be a trait of the vociferous side of the Yes campaign to try to belittle, shout down, or intimidate anybody who doesn't share their fervour. Well done for keeping to the stereotype!

I didn't say they wouldn't be able to get BBC. I'm sure they would... heck I get a version of it since moving to the US- and I also listen to the World Service in the car to and from work on SiriusXM.

Would Scotland contribute to a single BBC (probably not)- BBC would lose some of their license money- probably not do local content for Scotland anymore- and become more Anglo-Welsh centric as a result. Presumably Scotland will get their own equivalent, WHETV, but would only be able to put out lower budget television.

It is right that only Scotland should have the right to vote in the referendum- but this will impact the rest of the UK too. Everyone's economy will take a hit.

Yes, I agree that the economic effects will damage both England and Scotland. I also think that idiot Cameron has handled this whole affair incompetently. The vast majority of Scots would be happy with increased devolutionary powers - that was a suggested option for the original ballot papers. But Cameron refused, and has only succeeded in pushing more Scots into Salmond's welcoming arms.

Do you think your newspapers and the BBC are unbiased? Of course my links are to YES sources these are the people doing the research and putting the position in a straight forward manner. My sources make clear thay are from the YES side of the argument. There is only one side telling the truth here and it ain't the establishment.

DevAdvocate, Cameron's a Jock, Milliband's a Polish Jew and Clegg's mother is Dutch and on his father's side is Russian. Hardly English are they? The English just do not care what you think of us or if you get independence or not.
