Goodstuff ... tally ho the townies. Im up for another game and ill be more involved in the next one. I was just feeling my way through this.

P.s. I think im really the town hero for voting gerrez as if I didnt hed have became mafia. All hail hash the saviour.

Really I buckled under duress and chose the easy option of a coin toss not expecting gerrez to be eliminated.

  5. Apart from if you'd listened to me and Lucaas it would have been a Townie win on Sunday night <doh>

I refused to save myself in that round because I was 100% convinced Danilo was Don.

I was also 100% convinced that MITO is a regular townie too mind <laugh>

  8. If had I saved myself then I would have been ****ed in the next round considering DR thought I was mafia and he'd basically revealed he was a investigator. Of course, I would have been converted by then too.

  9. I guess we need to decide a few things for the next game then:

    1) same theme or different?

    2) same sort of teams; 8 townie vs 2 mafia (or their equivalents)

    3) who is organising it

    4) who can we recruit to increase numbers (Minxy, afcftw and possibly Nozzer already interested)

    5) when do we play again?

  11. Sounds good to me <ok>

Ideally need a mod to run it (no PM restrictions), I'll do it if no one else is willing but I'd rather be part of the game.

Biscan would make it kids versus BBC entertainers

MITO would go for axe murderers

Enricky would go for cops and robbers

Don't think we need to wait until October. The game can go on - we could do it in say a week or two. That gives us time to not get tired of it.

We can speed it up as well - one round will take one day, round 2 will take 2 days due to the sheer volume of activity there, and one day for the rest. Though two wasn't bad either - it gave everyone time to vote when they couldn't be on.

We could take turns being the gamemaster if that's an issue.

One word of advice for future dons- get your actions in early to the or risk having a disadvantage later in the game.

And no offense taken Gerrez I just used the opportunity to use your words as explanation for my loss. It wasn't because any of you were any good but because I was busy <whistle>

Also MITO was brilliant this game so listen to him if you're paired up.

I will volunteer to run the thing

    Things

    1. The number of players should decide game format, we can try and look at that

    2. Can add roles like vigilante which might be interesting

    3. I strongly think we start the game early in a week and run the thing on 24 hour daytime. I also strongly suggest we set a fair time for nightfall when the majority can be on. Some are night owls, some work dodgers so you basically need to be on looking at the last hour to really play the game

    4. You divs with the pm issues. There is a very easy way to delete even sent On my way! To free space and if you have signed up the issue then should really be mafia talking mostly and the game runner inbox. The rest of you plums should know to empty yer damn inboxes. I don't favour out of game or email as if you are on not606 you should see the pm notification and also it seems I can push the pm through as mod?

    Finally........

    5. Honestly last game has lots of errors ok but I did feel one or even two who shall remain nameless basically just ****ed with it rather than play honestly so I'd say please if 10 or more fellow reds fans or indeed others want to play it then f sake just don't get involved

Id be up for playing, although obviously I may not be around much when the baby comes, so if that's a problem it might be easier if I don't.

Or everyone could just kill me as quickly as possible.

    1) Regarding themes. Various different ones you can go with and rulesets.

There is basic Mafia like we just did.
General rule of thumb is take square root of players and that is how many Mafia there is. I like having at least one recruiting role- so started with 2- expecting to quickly get up to 3.
An alternative to the "Don" model is allowing the Mafia as a group to select who to target- that way if the Don is killed they can still recruit/kill. I usually put a limit on kills/conversions they can make for strategy reasons.

    There is multi-team Mafia.
Can have more Mafia this way- important though though that town remains the majority- or at least 50%.

    Vampire Theme
One player starts out as Vampire Count. (depending on total number of players- he can start out with Vampires).
Each night Vampire picks a player and then host flips a coin- to decide if player becomes a vampire or dies. This way as the rounds progress you get more and more vampires. Kill the Count and they can't keep reproducing or killing though. Usually allow the first "hit" to be a conversion so Vampire has a team starting with round 2.

    Unknown Evil
Everyone starts in the dark about what kind of "evil" is in the town. Host picks a theme and round 1 you've no idea exactly what you're up against. This is fun because it allows for some good bluffing- no one knows if you're fibbing about your role and detectives can't be sure if it is safe to come out because they don't know how many people could potentially kill them. Next game I host- I might do one of these! ;)

Then there are other roles you can add to make things more interesting. I wouldn't normally have more than one detective. I did in this game since it was everyone's first to simplify things and not introduce too many roles at once.
    Instead of 2nd detective:

Vigilante: A towns person who has a limited number of kills he can make on behalf of the town, at night without a vote.
Silent Voter: Gets an extra vote- sends it via PM to Host. When there is a silent voter you never know where that last vote lands and can change things.
Bodyguard/Priest: Can protect one person from assassination at night. When teamed up with detective can make a formidable pair - until bodyguard gets killed.

Ultimately though- I think it should be hosts choice- whoever is running the game needs to look at how many people are signed up, what they're interested in running and how they think they can best balance the game. So I'd say if MITO is running the next one he gets the choice of theme.

    3) I think rotating who does it is a good idea. I don't mind doing it again- would be nice to play a game though- it's been a long time for me... <laugh>

    4) Target people who have posted in here and shown an interest... I think we need a separate sign-up thread fresh... see if we can get 10 to 20 people interested. I've never done more than 20 so not sure at what size it gets too much.

    5) I'm up for whenever.

    6) 24 hr days work for me... usually you need less time the longer the game goes on- sometimes best to start 48hrs then flip to 24hrs for day 3 onwards. If competitors are OK with 24hrs that would work. I don't recommend 24hrs on weekend days though. Best to start on a Monday to avoid weekends as much as possible.

    7) PMs are a pain- just have to keep reminding people to clear room.
For Mafia to communicate (or alternative to Mafia) - I used to use QuickTopic (assume it's still free). You can create completely private forums on there (ungooglable link)... and it's sometimes fun to post the link to the private forum after the game ends so the Townsfolk can see what the Mafia had been discussing during the game.
