    Taken from goal.com.

Goalkeeper Rob Elliot has warned Newcastle he may look to leave the club in search of regular first-team football.

Elliot is determined to feature more regularly as he seeks to enhance his international prospects with the Republic of Ireland.

The 28-year-old earned a second Ireland cap in last week's friendly victory over Oman, but has been restricted to limited appearances for Newcastle due to the form of Tim Krul.

And having played in just four matches under Alan Pardew last term, Elliot acknowledges he may need to move on from St James' Park.

"My previous competitive game was with Ireland in May. It's been really tough," he told the Telegraph. "I've been a bit frustrated. I've wanted to play - I don't want to get the tag of just being a number two keeper.

"I believe I can play in the Premier League and I want to try and push Tim Krul as much as I can. I've spoken to Alan Pardew about that, and he knows and he's fine about that.

"I've got a good relationship with him, but it's just a case of waiting for my opportunity. Last year was a bit frustrating because I only got a few games.

"You get times when you think, 'Right, I need to play' and that's the thing, the big thing for me.

"I love the club - anyone who has been there knows what an amazing city it is, how fantastic the fans are - but I want to play football.

"I hope it is at Newcastle, but if it's not, it's not. I think after this season, depending on how many games I get, I'll have to look at it and see what happens."

Fook him! What did he expect when he joined? Maybe he assumed we'd sell Krul by now.

He wants to leave to further his career?? What career? He is at best an average keeper and worst of all a spokesperson for Pardew, defending him at all costs. Not one fan rates him as a keeper. A self-deluded fool, like so many Premier League players who think they amazing when in reality they are just journeyman footballers!!

GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH, as my Dad would say!!!!!

I can't believe it, this is devastating news. I love that he is talking like its his choice. We all know they've bought the lad at Forest Rob.

Rob can't even oust our goalie when he's in the single ****test form-patch of his career... We bought your fat arse because those plump rosey cheeks do a splendid job warming the bench, now shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh <ok>

In summary a reserve goalkeeper was asked if he would like to be first choice and what he would do if it became clear he was never going to be first choice. Shock horror, he wants to be first choice.

I don't think that Elliot is that bad for a 2nd choice keeper. Problem is that he's not good enough to be 1st choice and that causes problems when the 1st choice loses form. Hopefully Darlow will offer much better competition for Krul (if he's still here next year).

    Very much a non-story.

as in he wants more game time. starting every week for a lesser club is better than being on the bench all your career, especially for a goalie

So time it is better for a backup to be moving for more playing time. He does not want for being another Steve Harper, a good keeper who waste his career on benched.

Don't know why people are getting themselves into a little paddy because Elliot wants to move on,

Crap, s**** or whatever, not up to it
He didn't buy himself as far as I remember, nor does he pick himself for the bench every week, nor is it his fault that the back up keepers aren't considered good enough by the club to replace him.

Odd that when players sit around doing f*** all. they get castigated, and when one wants to move on to further his career, irrespective of if he's good enough or not, lets have a dig at him as well.

    Strange, so strange.

With Darlow on his way from Forest, this is hardly surprising news.

Elliot will be putting out the 'come and get me' sandwich board nice and early to maximise his chance of getting a move this January.

Elliot is a bang-average 'keeper and should count himself lucky to be playing at a PL club <ok>

    It all makes sense now.

    Rumours that Ashley might sell.
= Pardew will get the boot by new owner.
= Elliot will have to follow his beloved leader.

His pillow talk must have meant he was 'in the know' about the Cashley rumours before the press were.
