Just a quick off question, has anyone been to Marmaris?
Know what it's like and did they have a good time.

Sorry that this has nothing to do with Newcastle or even football.

Mate, I've been there 12 times now. My dad lives there for part of the year.
A class place with very hot weather (I once say 52 degrees in July).
Beer is around £2 a pint, the odd place is cheaper but avoid Bar Street as it is £5 for a water there.
The only bastard is the 1.5 hour trip from Dalaman airport to the resort.
You can get loads of knocked off gear there (gigs / watches / dvd's etc..) but prepare to barter.
All in all I'd suggest trying it out cos it got me hooked.
There's also loads of football bars showing the dodgy telly so you will see all the mackem season ticket holders there too.
if you like trips you have to go to see Ephesus too (google it).
    hope this helps!

forgot to say... if you are going there to pull the greasy turkish locals are all over the bints like a rash and most of them end up with a Turk hanging out of the back of them by the end of their hols so opportunities are a bit limited as they strangely love it.
Naturally it could be that I'm just an ugly twat!

Thank you for the massive heads up. ( especially on the mackem situation )
Me and 3 friends have just booked tickets to go there, were leaving next week!!!
So the nightlife is good? What about things to do, like during the day? :)

theres loads of boat trips and **** to do.
You can get the Hydrofoil fast boat over to Rhodes for the day to see the pretty Greek isle.
other **** includes watersports (the fly, donuts etc) plus some decent day time booze cruises.
don't forget to take a £10 not for the robbing bastards at the airport (visa fee).
Nightlife is good but you get stung by Bar Street. There's bars all over the place so you won't be short of boozers.
Another random tip- spirits have massive taxes on them so are pretty expensive (muslim country) so if you can, take a couple of bottles from NCL airport over and it will be a good tradeable commodity with a friendly bar owner who will ply you with freebies as foreign spirits are even more pricey!

Okay £10 note for Visa... check. :)
Literally cannot wait, £250 for flights and hotel for 7 days b+b.
I'll remember to take spirits, and that Ephesus and Rhodes will be defo on the cards. Along with booze cruises. I swear you are more helpful than the nice lady i spoke to on the phone.
Any other tips or places of interest will be great.

    Many thanks!! :)

    I did mate thanks.
I'm deffo gonna book for Vilnus in November.
There were one or two mongs saying evey other guy is a gangster etc.... but as long as we stay in the tourist places it will be sweet. I've done Warsaw, Prague and Krakow recently so I imagine it will be similar.
will let you know how I get on (or who I get on!)

Just take a high factor cream cost it will be 40 degrees at least (ignore the BBC weather website as the sensor is at the top of a mountain on the end of a penninsula).
If you want a class meal go down to the Marina and visit either the Oh Yes or the La Vita Bella eateries (in the latter there is a waiter called Sebastian who cannot say the word profiterole.... get him to say it and you will piss yourself...... tell him Nick's brother said for you to do it!).
one last thing.... enjoy yourself and let me know how you find it!

I've been there on my own mate and didn't have any problems, so I can't see a gang of you having any. Certainly no worse than any other eastern european city i've been too.

Marmaris was definately the best holiday i've been on so far with mates!!!
What hotel u staying at? We stayed at one called the Flamingo - it's right by the beach.
Even if you are not staying there they're happy for you to use their pool and bar and the barmen there were Eray and Numan (2 quality guys and will join u on nights out in bar street if they are free).
As previous posts have said Bar Street can sting you for drinks (think redbull n Vodka set us back approx 9 quid a time) but it's an experience to go clubbing in a nightclub/bar with no roof. Music pumping out while the clear sky/stars are above u !!!
The foam parties are quality too. There was times when the foam literally filled the room and went above your head!!!
Would suggest trying one of the "authentic kebabs" - nothing like the ones we get over here and so much better after a night out.
The local beer is Efes (which they sell in weatherspoons over here if you get a chance to try it before you fly to get the taste).
There is a restaurant near to our hotel owned by a mackem. Stear clear of this - not because he's a mackem but because he doesn't give a ****. We met some lasses over there and one of them was a veggie. Went to his restaurant for a meal and she ordered a veggie meal and it came with meat all in it. When we complained he just said "tough luck - i'll give you 50% off her meal" and went back to the bar drinking. We decided to finish our other meals and then told him we wouldnt pay for her meal at all (obviously paid for our other ones as they were fine). With that he threatened to call the police so we just got up left the money and walked out. He came after us down the street giving the big one saying he could get us deported - pillock!!!
Would suggest going for a turkish shave and turkish massage as well. So relaxing (if you get the right people).

If you like blackpool you'd love it and if you like some greaseball try to half drag you into his **** hole bar/restaurant/building you'll love it.

I ****ing hate it. i hate being hassled to do anything when i'm on holiday and you can't walk 5 yrds down the street without being stopped by every greaseball there. and in all honesty its a bit of a ****hole in general.

totally soured my opinion of turkey and neither I or the wife are leikly to go again. just my opinion. call me stuck up but i prefer somewhere with a bit more class.

I'll never go anywhere like that again. i'd rather just pay the extra. just got back from a 2 week honeymoon in singapore and bali. singapore, they wouldn't dream of acting like that and in bali although they do stand in there shop doorways saying "yes please" when you walk past it went no further than that in built up areas. up in the sticks where they had **** all on the other hand they tried a little harder but nothing like turkey.
