Wow, things really do move slowly when you’re an Arsenal fan.

Transfers aren’t simple unless of course you are any other club other than Arsenal.
Sunderland like Connor Wickham, they sign him. United need a keeper, they sign one from Athletico Madrid and yes, they tied up the deal before July 1st despite it not being able to go through until that date. You see, that date shouldn’t prevent a club from talking to players. It’s like making a pre-release order on iTunes.

Agghhhh!! Was'nt Arsene Wenger only recently talking about making signings towards the start of the transfer window? He’s already shifting the goal posts from having players signed up early in the window and now he’s back banging on about that self sustaining model and how Arsenal aren’t rich.

Bore me later Arsene… get your wallet OUT.

    Please.

Here's hoping there's a big press conference tomorrow and Arsene is stood smiling with several new faces around him :)

You wouldn't be happy if we sold Cesc for 10% less than he is worth though, so I can understand clubs wanting value for their players and agree with you, pay the extra 2 or 3 million and get them.

this is starting to make me feel that the budget isn't actually all that big, and Arsenal are relying on the Cesc transfer going through to fund the purchases. 40m for Cesc would buy Cahill (7m + Bendy), Gervinho (12m), Alvarez (10m), and Samba (12m) with a cool 1m left over for the already-purchased Jenkinson.

If you factor in selling a few players, and a few million available as a budget already, that means Mata could come in on top.

I'd be OK with that, as long as we got Mata and sold Deni, Squill, Rosicky and possibly Arshavin.

We agreed the same price for the defender that the mancs signed, but he chose to go to them. So, it shows that we are able to agree prices when we want to.

The window for European transfers doesn't open until tomorrow, so let's wait and see. I think we'll get 3 or 4 established players in.

Manchester United have replaced the three players who retired last season.
Sunderland made a massive amount on Henderson, allowing them to be match Ipswichs valuation of Wickham and push the deal through.

Until Clichy, Nasri and Fabregas have their futures sorted it is hard for Arsenal to push forward with our own transfers. We are also waiting to get Bendtner and Denilson off the books.
Plus Wenger will want to have a look at last seasons loanees and see how they have improved, in order to see where we need investment.

I think we are all a little bored and frustrated with the way the summer is going but I imagine in the next 2 weeks things will change. The Fabregas thing will be resolved one way or another and the Gervinho deal will be tied up. All we can do is wait.

We have been here before many times, our players about to leave in droves and although we get a lot of talk from Wenger, no action, and when the transfer window closes and we sign no-one it will be excuses again.

When are the fans going to wake up and see that we are being led up the garden path again. We'll be paying £3k a season to watch schoolboys and Le Prof doing his Basil Fawlty impressions, i don't know about you guys but i am getting a lot p****ed off with.

    Is he having a laugh?
    End of July?
Don't the CL qualifiers start in mid-August?

How will our possible foreign recruits (Gervinho?, Alvarez?) adjust so quickly to the team and that.

In my opionion the core of the squad should be done by the time we start pre-season but we still have all these fringe players in the squad we need to get rid off and haven't signed anyone bar that Jenkinson guy.

Three of our best players about to leave and nobody seems the least bit concerned, the complacency of the Board and manager is breathtaking. I don't consider it an overstatement to say that Wenger is fiddling while Arsenal is burning. LOL

I call this the africa example.

When I was little, and something crap happened, my mum always said, well at least you have that, some people would die to be in your position.

Doesn't mean we're not in a ****-hole right now.

Wenger has said that he won't be signing players until the end of July - this bothers me and most others because whilst we sit on our heels and wait - other teams move ahead and sign players that we have been looking at but are too slow to react too.

Another issue of not signing players until the end of july is that a lot of players (esp players from abroad) will need to up root their family to move to england - takes time, finding a house in london - takes time, finding a school - takes time, learning your job on the pitch - takes time, getting to know your team mates off the pitch - takes time, learning the language - takes time!! Leaving signings to the end of July takes this time away from these players
