England traditionally took the white and blue from the Union Flag for their team kits- white shirt and blue shorts. (even though the blue part of the flag came from Scotland). White shirts and red shorts now? All red for away shirt?
The union flag is a fashion symbol all across Europe... Wonder if that will continue to be the case should we cease using it?
We should just get rid of the blue, not add green and remove the diagonal lines whilst we're at it too...
I bet the people of Portsmouth and Plymouth will be dancing in the streets if the Jocks vote Yes! The next multi Billion £ MOD contract for a Carrier was going to be awarded to Glasgow but it wont happen if they are independent. The Nuclear Missiles will also have to move down South taking the 1000s of support jobs with them!
Being myopic again there mate. That large workforce becomes a major liability as firms, government and international agencies re-locate leaving that over-blown workforce with no work. There is no need for any business in whatever section to locate in London. The facilities that London offers can be replicated and bettered in other centres. Sooner or later the major organisations will realise that there is no need for them to be physically located in proximity to each other. Once the re-location damn bursts and it will, then the attraction of high cost HQ centres will vanish. Once the world economy truly starts to grow again then watch the housing investment capital flow away to other areas leaving London and Londoners with overpriced property that they can no longer afford as both the prices fall and their employment prospects sink. As for your tertiary sector - who are they going to provide services for? But this thread is about Scotland so let's return to that.
Probably terrible of me to say this- but I always found the St. George cross to be rather boring. That it was given to us by a Frenchman when we already had a much cooler flag is even worse. Whilst we're changing flags- we should go back to the Pre-William flag of England. please log in to view this image Another option for the union flag- replace the blue with black. (St. Davids cross is a black background- as it the flag of Cornwall- not that they're a real country or deserve recognition... ) And make the red saltire thicker and even.
the queen will still be monarch in scotland therefore her flag still flies. union jack will still fly but i SUPPOSE the resulting federal state of england and others will be needing a st george with a union jackin the order or something.
nukes in the basement. axes in the car and bedroom... simples. axes for individuals.. nukes for russians.
If the monarchy remains then surely any new design of union flag would be flown in Scotland... Only it'd be one with no Scottish element
If I was Scottish I would give a definite yes to independence!! And today the three wise men have headed north to campaign for the Pro-Union side. That alone would make me vote YES!! On a more serious note, the Scots were offered a raft of reforms in 1979, but what happened. They had to suffer 18 years of Tory rule, and the demolition of their industry. Furthermore, hardly anyone votes Tory in Scotland so basically there is a Government in Westminster that does not represent the vast majority of Scots. Mind you the same applies in large swathes of Northern England so perhaps you guys should seeks independence because what has the Westminster Government done for you?
No I would preumse their confederate flag would have a union jack up in the corner.. in the end if the queens claims sovereignty still the union jack still exists i think.
