Ok I know its a day early but lets get back to proper football and the visit of the Geordies on Saturday. Newcastle are in a poor run of form and Pardew is coming under pressure from increasingly disillusioned fans. They also have a number of key injuries so it all points to a comfortable home win for Saints. Pardew will be desperate for a result though and we all know though that there is no such thing as an easy game in the PL. We will have to perform well to get the 3 points.

Hopefully all our Internationals will come back unscathed and bar Jrod and Gallagher Ron will have a full squad to choose from. He has some difficult decisions not least at CB where he has to decide whether to drop Jose or Maya and bring in Toby. Also hard to call midfield where a strong case can be made for both JWP or Davis.

I'm hoping we will get a chance to see what Mane can do but expect him to start on the bench. I think Ron may go with

    Fraser

    Clyne Fonte Toby Bertrand

    Morgan Vic JWP Tadic

    Pelle Long

Subs KD Gardos Maya Cork Davis Mane Isgrove

Our stronger squad means that there is no room for any of Reed Targett Mcqueen Sims or Mayuka even on the bench.

It should be an entertaining match with hopefully a few goals. I'd settle for a repeat of last years 4-0 win!

In both of the last two seasons we have underscored against them. One of my best mates is a Toon fan. Please can we take those chances this time and really give them a spanking!

We won 4 - 0 last time though? Do you mean all those missed J Rod chances in the first half? I'm not sure It's underscoring, we always have a low chance to goal ratio.

Both teams are unfamiliar with teammates, who knows what the result may be but only one of us have sufficient coaching.

Finally back to the proper football. A nice result and a big welcome for Benali please. I think we'll win 3-1.

Difficult to believe that around a year ago Newcastle were 5th.

I think 2 or 3 nil, feel quite good about this one, confidence should be high. Anyone know when Mane hits the town?

Senegal are playing Botswana tomorrow so after that I guess. May not be ready to play on Saturday so I think most likely sub.

You'll win 4-1. Check the Toon board for a hilarious look at how depressed and disenchanted we all are at our team, manager & owner.

Already have mate. Doesnt always work that way though. Be just like Pardew to sneak a 1-0 and get a stay of execution.

When it's my mate's team, I wanted the 6-8 it could have been :) I had plans of a red and white striped garage door for him :)

its set up nicely for a comfy saints win isn't it. So, football being football and saints being saints it will be an unexplainable 3 - 3 draw.

You'll like me this week because my opinion is that Southampton will win handsomely. Beware Toon posters, ass-kissing only here <ok>

Forster looks way better than Boruc, by the way, suck it <laugh>

Really stoked up for this one in a apprehensive sort of way, there's a lot of new faces that need to knit together so I guess anything could happen. Like the new keeper, like the back 4, like the midfield, but I'm still a bit twitchy about the final third, goals win games and I think goals may be hard to come by this season?

My mate who knows a guy who knows a guy who is definitely ITK says RK's preferred system is 3-4-3 and it goes like this

    ......................................................................Forster..........................................................................................

    ..................................Toby............................Fonte...................................Gardos..................................................

    ......Clyne............................Spiderman............................Wanyama............................Bertram................................

    ....................Mane......................................................................................Tadic.................................................

    .................................................................Pelle...................................................................................................

May not happen Saturday because Mane yet to train with the squad.. but that's where we are headed

One thing I can say with certainty is that Newcastle will not play as badly as they did last season, don't get me wrong, we played well, but they didn't even give us a game.

I am pretty sure we'll stick with 4-3-3

    Forster
    Clyne-Alderweireld-Fonte-Bertrand

    Schneiderlin
    JWP-Davis

    Mane-Tadic
    Pelle

Well, we will be playing 4-3-3 I'm sure. I don't really know where people get this idea that Koeman plays 3 at the back, like Van Gaal. At Feyenoord and other clubs, he's mostly used a 4-3-3. Can't see it changing from that!

Surely Mane won't start. He won't even arrive before Thurs.
