http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/11458316._/ He must be so pleased at this goal he will always remember PS Just seen this mentioned on another thread..... but great to celebrate it on its own thread too....
The lads a hero ! When was the last time that a current Hornet scored against World Cup holders (One for the pub Quiz thread maybe ?). Gordon Strachan is also a hero because he's the first manager in a long time to have a British national team playing above the sum of its parts.
Did Barnes do it? Yes great that a manager can make a team outperform the potential of its individual ala GT Good vid of the goal from different angles here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxE4jTAoCt4
Indeed. Some of the Sweaty play in the second half was a pleasure to watch. And it's a long, long time since that has been the case. I watched the game on ESPN and towards the end the commentator stated that Strachan was 'chipping away' at the fourth official. No surprise there - he's a chippy wee Ned after all.
What an excellent finish - baring in mind its probably Anya's weakness for us. Notice he looked very composed and assured in an attacking role without having to do much defending so maybe one for Garcia to look at. Trouble is a few clubs will look at him now.
now the rumours start: http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014...long-interest-in-scotland-winger-ikechi-anya/
Celtic, Premier League with Watford or Champions League football with.... It's all very well being a huge fish in a tiny pond but where is the fun in winning easily every week, or is that it.
By playing at a decent level week in week out in the championship he'll advance at a far better rate and to a far higher level than he would in the Scotts pub league
Win win situation... that goal will doubtless boost his confidence and if his head is turned then the transfer value has risen anyway. That said if Strachan thinks that the SPL is in anyway superior to the Championship save for the lure of European football, then he's not really thinking it through. There's no guarantee that Celtic have a side that would manage to get promoted from the Championship, none at all.
I bet Anya actually supports Rangers! Without Champions league football how attractive are Celtic as a club to join? Their league games rarely sell out it seems and the money won't be like in the Premier league..and he's settled down here.
I am sure he will stay here.... much better to have a chance for the Prem.... than going to a virtual dead end league...
