I seem to remember a decent left footer for them? Not seen a lot of Stones but he's not a RB is he? Think they'll target him.
Most of the theories irritate me with their stupidity, and I find myself defending Hodgson a lot because the criticism of him from fans (though as you pointed out earlier, not so much the media) is ridiculously exaggerated at times, to the point that some people openly say they want us to lose. However, I do agree that, under Hodgson in particular, qualifiers away to places like this always have their difficulty exaggerated and he goes on and on about how a point would be a great result. Yes we're away but ffs we've got much better players than them on paper. Today looks to me like being another of those frustrating games where we create frig all, but the way he's talking about it sounds like we'll sit back and let them have it too, which is even worse for me. I'd love us to go and beat them 2 or 3 nil like we would have done a few years ago, and disappoint some of the English people who really want us to fail, but as you say, we don't have a go do we? Sounds like a 4-5-1 to me. Sigh. Rooney on his own, who'll spend half the game in his own half and we'll wonder why we can't get out of our half. Shaqiri is their well-known player, think he might be left-footed. Stones grew up as a RB but played CB at the end of last season for a bit. He's good at both I guess.
1 - 2 (or 3), a convincing England performance and some young players finding their game. Don't write Rooney off, either.
Dont understand why everybody gets on Roy's back, we wanted an English Manager and thats what the FA gave us, Roy was the best avalible at the time
He picks players based on who they play for and reputation over ability and form. He's tactically stubborn, which is okay for an average league club (West Brom) but for a team with any ambition (Liverpool) or a national side (England), he comes up short. He's nothing more than an FA 'yes' man, and everyone knows it. This is reflected in the 2 tournaments he's taken us to, where we were ****e & thoroughly uninspiring.
Poor touch Rooney again. I don't get Rooney. I've got it in my head he's a creative type who can link things up but he doesn't do that well enough any more, nowhere near. It always seems to be 'nearly' with him. He's got the vision but it never comes off. He seems to have more success (to me anyway) when he's poaching inside the box like a Lineker type. Seems like all his England goals come from there. Sterling chose the wrong ball there.
