We will never be able to step up to the next level without investment like that. To step up from being top 10 contenders to pushing for Europe we need an owner with billions, not millions.
Well there's nothing on Companies House about change of directors (although it doesn't mean they haven't submitted the paperwork as it takes a few days to process).
It does make sense if the club is to be sold to an uber-rich guy. Transfer fees are paid in installments so the Allams didn't have to fork out the full amount of each transfer. Wages are paid monthly so the new guy (if any) will be picking up the tab. He probably gave instructions to spend the money before the transfer deadline, as he'd have to wait until January to do it himself.
The thing that I find strange, is that if the club wasn't for sale, they would have said something by now. Why schedule a press conference or press release whatever it will be 3 days after the rumours? Why not just nip it in the bud over the weekend? All it would take is a tweet, they clearly have something to announce.
I don't really like it either but the faults you mention are more significant. I don't care where someone's from if they tell me to stop supporting the club because I don't agree with him. We don't know anything. Chances are he's probably not selling. I know what you mean but we've had this before haven't we? Big build-up to an announcement and it turns out to be just saying what he's said before.
I actually find this quite a depressing thought, in a 'football is all about the money' sort of way. I'm only just about still attached to the club as it is. Not a dig at you, by the way.
He,s come out with some stupid comments in his time here and lets be honest not one of us wanted the name change but if he does go i will not only remember him for his out spoken stupid views but also for taking us up into the premier league, taking us to an F A cup final something i thought would never happen and promising to get us into Europe which again although short lived he did it. In all the time ive been going to City iv'e seen many chairman come and go most saying we will do this and that but none have delivered like he as and love him or hate him you can't fault the man's record regarding our success. Has for bringing the best manager in that we have ever had then what a great appointment that was and from listening to SB when he always mentions pappa Allam it seems they get on great. Lets hope if we do get a new owner in then then SB continues to have a good relationship with we will see
To be fair to the guy it seems he is a self-made billionaire. His dad worked on oil rigs and then he did the same, got himself an education and worked hard to rise up the ranks and eventually became a director at a new oil company, going on to work for the Soviet Union as a deputy minister. I'm sure there was a heavy sprinkling of corruption and other questionable acts involved but it's not like he was handed daddy's oil fortune and doesn't know what hard work is.
I read up on him and the first thing that stood out was that he owns Lukoil. I follow the oil and gas industry a bit and know how big they are. Very much a self-made man, though I would put money on it being an 'interesting' rise to power. Anyway, this is all idle speculation at present and until we know what the Allams have in their announcement, it hardly seems worth worrying for now. 'Control the controllables' - Nigel Adkins
As a matter of interest who says there is a press conference? Has it been officially announced or is this more bollox from a twitter nonentity?
Calender were on about it at tea time, and one of their reporters tweeted it would be within 48 hours. But apart from that no.
Can we all make a conscious effort to stop the 'papa' Allam **** please? Where did that even come from!?
I seen it on Calendar,, they said that the club would make an announcement on the future of the club within 48hrs. it did not specify what aspect of the clubs future it would be.
Not sure if you're being sarccy or not there Stanners. If City is sold it is as a direct result of the actions of the very people and organisation you've mentioned. Dunno why you'd deny it, you should be proud. The bloke that, allegedly, told you to die, called you hooligans, trampled all over our over a century of illustrious and glorious history and pointed out the obvious, i.e. you're a noisy minority and showed nothing but contempt and disdain for the fans. Good riddance surely? I hope it's not the case, and I hope I don't end up saying "told you so" when we end up in a worse situation than ever, losing the manager, losing decent players etc. I do not think we need an "oligarch" to succeed, I think we could do pretty well with the Allam family as owners, by which I mean top half table and a possible cup final again, but this time winning the fooker. But, you know that.
No he wasn't handed daddy's oil fortune he just acquired what was previously state property courtesy of being part of the nomenclature who used their positions to 'own' what they previously managed it's called economic gangsterism so yes he's a self made thief .....either that or he did a ****ing load of overtime. How odd that despite all the campaigning about defending the tradition of 'our ' club people seem so blasé about it being sold to someone who would regard City as nothing more than a a means of money laundering on a massive scale.
So if we do get a super rich owner and he spends a **** load of dosh and we win the league do we thank CTWD?
