Great result for .... Albania!!! BB when it comes to football until I lived here I supported all home nations as a reaction to the Scotts attitude to us and the "ABE" mentality I've grown an "ABS" mentality of my own.

We must obviously move in different circles, having never witnessed any negativity towards the English around here - in fact none of the wide variety of 'ethnics' (including myself) have had any such experiences as far as I'm aware. It's a shame I can't same the same for my early days in Australia where I was regularly and mistakenly thought to be English - and I prefer to forget my early days in England where I had to use my fists and feet to ward off those who didn't like my Scottish accent. Not all were idiots though - I made and have retained many good friends thanks to Watford FC.

That is formal. Mostly is takk or takk fyrir. þakk is also used. The difference is where the tongue is in the mouth, t is behind the upper teeth and against the palate, þ is with the top of the toungue touching the upper teeth. This is thorn and is said in english like the th in thigh. What makes things difficult is ð or eth, which is said as th in thy except when said as th in thigh. The language can be confusing and if you had not suffered the defeat of Harold Godƿinson in 1066 by William of Normandy you would have these letters still. Except in the names of public houses Þe Olde Greene Man for example.

I found mine from May 1948, Bournemouth 1-3 Norwich City! At that time Bournemouth were second in Div. 3 South and we were second bottom, so I obviously improved their form

Partial good news ofh - at least it has stopped the dumping of dredged sediment onto the Reef as well as a nearby coastal protected habitat - mangrove area which is vital for fish. The article mentions a 'Queensland Environmental Group', which is a tad condescending - they're an Australia wide organisation with financial supporters throughout the world, such as yours truly. The main objection was more a case of who the main company was who want to dredge the channel - an Indian Mining conglomerate called Adani who have an atrocious record of environmental & worker abuse, a track record of breaking contract conditions and of bullying their way to get what they want. I'd say it looks like that concern has been allayed, but the issue of increased shipping traffic through the Barrier Reef to reach the Abbott Point port remains, but I doubt that will ever be reversed. Over the years oil tankers have been guilty of bulldozing their way through it to the detriment of wildlife & coral.

Then, of course, the issue of where the dredge will be dumped on land starts. If Adani are involved, I'd hate to be a land owner in the coastal area around Bowen....

We were 10th when I was born, and finished the season 19th - the first match after I was born was a 2-1 defeat at home to Grimsby. If you take the first match after I went home from hospital (4 months old as I was born with a hole in my heart), then it was a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield at the beginning of the following season. What's worse is that "Long haired lover from Liverpool" was #1 when I was born. <yikes>

As someone who signed up to protest at the destruction of the reef, I have found it difficult to keep up with the news. The reef comes somewhat below the latest affair of the President and his dipping poll ratings out here. Actually the BBC did mention it, whereas none of the news services here did. I do believe that these large companies are in a dilemma, either provide the shareholders the return that they expect, or tell them that natural resources should be maintained for the well being of the world. Once again it is the people who invest their money against the environmentalist who have the largest say.
