But what do we want to watch, Miggs? Sanitized, controlled racing with no defending and no muscling or just drivers passing under DRS? It's ridiculous that racing is punished. Senna would turn in his grave. I want a dog-fight! Let the buggers race!
That's how consistent Rosberg has been. That line is almost straight. It's gunna take a big dip for Hamilton to overhaul him.
Yeah, but the pass wouldn't have been under DRS, it would've been a wheel to wheel battle out of the chicane, down to the second chicane like Ric/Vet, KMag knew it so he deliberatley drove him off the track, he might've escaped punishment if he didn't have a lot of previous. To be fair, in Senna's day they didn't have launch pads on the inside of the corners, and people used to drive people off the raod to win WDCs.
Should probably also say well done to the BBC this weekend, I don't know if they were expecting a Mercedes fall out but they had so much more post race coverage this weekend. I think they even had about 20 mins after FP3. Normally quali and the race finishes and they bolt to homes under the hammer or something in 24 seconds. They just had so much more time to talk about things for once
If you know somebody is there you have to stay ahead without causing contact, the trouble with comparing previous incarnations of F1 isn the fundamental fragility of the cars aerodynamics, and their reliance on those fragile parts. Driven in such a fashion I bet most of the cars on the grid fall apart during the race without any contact.
I hear ya... but in many ways both tracks and cars are safer than ever, yet the rules make things too safe. I don't want to see people hurt, but part of the spectacle is the danger and that danger is sucked out of overtaking for me. Drivers should be almost like gladiators (sans the death bit). Plus so many other idiot moves go unpunished. Punish the fool.. not the racing!
That was because Hamilton had the problems at the start or maybe he would have beaten Rosberg by a country mile. When Hamilton got to the front he was constantly pulling away then he started to manage the gap until it was totally out of Rosberg's reach as he would have had to be catching Hamilton at about a second a lap which as totally impossible. Has Hamilton not have the electrical problem at the start I don't think Rosberg would have seen him again until the podium really. Just picture this Hamilton running at the pace he was doing today in clean air at the front... And remember when he ran the hard tyres in the practice sessions he was almost half second on Rosberg at most times. I think he might have beaten Rosberg by more than 15 seconds if he had gotten his usually quick start and not have those electrical problems.
It was my dream start, sadly Rosberg managed to avoid a wheel to wheel race, he's usually so good on an empty track.
I think Kevin's very talented and great fun to watch but he's still learning his craft and can be a bit sloppy at times to the detriment of his competitors; but that's rookies for you. The 5 seconds meant that, although he was penalised, he was also allowed to carry on racing so it's a win-win from my point of view. I suppose you could argue that he's on the stewards' radar at the moment and that's why he got punished but, for me, it was fair enough.
Kevin does need to be taken to one side and reminded about what is acceptable when defending. Whilst in isolation his penalty may seem harsh, his constant late movement in the braking zone is going to cause a huge accident soon. He just needs to calm down a bit and refine his tactics. Ron will be pleased with his racing attitude, but he will lose patience if all these penalties start to get more regular. Part of the learning process for the rookie.
Jackie Stewart claims the "lock-ups" by Rosberg smell a bit fishy? I'm sure breaking 5 metre's later than normal, locking up a "bit" then going through the run-off area is more do-able than his last "deliberate" action at Spa.. But why do it when he's being caught by Massa? Don't buy that he did it deliberately but then again I don't think he did what he did at Monaco and Spa deliberately either... who knows! After the 29th Lap, the race for the win was over but the midfield battle was superb. The more this season goes on, the more I'm warming to Ricciardo, the guy is the real deal!
Given that Hamilton was catching him at such a rate, if his intention was to deliberately allow Hamilton to pass then this looked pretty inevitable anyway. I don't see why a deliberate off would have been necessary. Also, seeing how vehemently they have ben fighting for this championship I can't imagine him agreeing to do such a thing either. Add to this the other times this year when he has made mistakes and overshot chicanes under pressure as well as nearly sticking it in the wall in Canada. I can see why people might say it was deliberate but the more you look at it the less it stacks up.
Having said that, it would be funny if that's the very reason this particular type of "mistake" had been chosen. If Wolff or Lauda said to Rosberg, I'll tell you what, locking up under pressure is the sort of thing you'd do, you can do it this afternoon for us and no-one will be the remotest bit surprised.
lol I have been saying for some time now that Rosberg does not handle pressure well. Even when you look at his hands on the steering wheel there is this constant nervous tugging that I find strange, because Hamilton is in the same car and he is usually very smooth with his hand..but Rosberg handles the steering like he is very nervous. Rosberg tries to put on the perfect face to make believe that he is very strong mentally but I think he keeps his anger inside and hides his frustration which isn't good because while he is showing his good face on the outside he is burning on the inside and he needs to let that out or he will explode or make serious mistakes when under pressure. Hamilton usually lets his frustration out (as he seldom hides his feelings) and then he goes away, thinks about it and come back relaxed and even stronger. Maybe Rosberg needs to do this too. Another thing, even before the race Rosberg was complaining and expressing some worry about Mercedes race pace at the Monza track, yet Hamilton wasn't having the same difficulties he was having relative to race pace. Also it seems Rosberg doesn't like the hard tyre too much but Hamilton loves them. So we will see what tyres are being used for the other races.
