Silky smooth shift on this baby, when I'm tired, I just press the home key. I stopped and soaked up the silence on my ride this morning, it was absolutely blissful around the Cliffes and Hotham. I even took the time to stop and admire the view behind when going up Trundlegate. I bet some were fooled into thinking I needed a rest.
A rest?? It may well have gained me a breather, but that's just a consequence of taking WH Davies' advice....honest. What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare.
It not so steep by the looks, well I guess time will tell. This was my ride this morning, just a short one today. http://www.strava.com/activities/191064285
I plan a route in my mind by looking at a map, but rarely take one with me. I have a garmin gps and review the route when I get home. That way I find new routes by accident when I'm out and get ideas for new ones when I get back. There's chunks around HOSM and west of Pock I've barely touched. Cheers for pointing me at them.
I more or less do the same, I have a rough idea where I am going to go, but usually end up taking a new road and see where is takes me.
Hills are getting the better of me at the moment. Mentally not physically. Need to give myself a stern talking to before next weekends rides.
I know what you mean Charlie, it is more mental than physical. Actually doing it how Fromme does it, just get a rhythm and try and maintain it, seems to be the best for me.
Bit of a fist fight in the Vuelta today. Talk about handbags and while riding up a hill. Both riders dq'd.
i think this should be the future of boxing , with a bit more practise it could be a good spectator sport
I saw Contador sat on Froomes wheel up that last hill and when he went he left Froome for dust. Was impressive to see but then I did wonder. Given his history etc etc. Froome is no slowcoach on the hills himself and he said he was feeling good. Bet the doping van was ready and waiting for Contador.
