Still an accolade to have which cant be taken away from them.

At the end of the day, Southampton are currently a bigger, better club than we are and this reflects that.

How is proud fox (the real proud btw as oppose to yourself) complacent? There's a significant difference between complacent and positive due to the fact we are in better shape than we have been this millennium! If you've got nothing worth saying don't say anything at all

In case your still living in 2000 and we're still playing at Filbert Street and they are still at the Dell

Leicester, Southampton, Coventry, Doncaster, Derby and a few others

All play at the same style stadium. A very might vary a little and in Doncaster be a bit smaller but they are the same so do keep up

You can't judge a club's size on there recent history Ed. Would you say Hull are bigger than Leeds? Palace bigger than Forest? Hell, would you say Everton are bigger than Man Utd? Southampton have had a similar recent history to us (and quite a similar long term history too really), but are a couple of seasons ahead. I think they're on a (slow) decline now (while we are still on the rise) after losing most of their squad. Much like us, time will tell if their new squad is good enough to survive or not. But whether it is or isn't, they have show themselves to be a selling club. As long as our current owners have been at the club, we haven't (yet).

So in short, I agree with the sentiment of your last few posts, but not the wording. If you mean you are hopeful of mimicking Southampton's recent success, I'd agree. If you're saying we can be a club as big as Southampton, then, as Proud said, I'd say we are, and always have been, a club about the same size as Southampton.

Personally, I'd like to see our ambitions being much higher. To be a side that is in the Prem more often than it isn't. A club that, like in the late 1990s, has Europe as a realistic target rather than survival. I'd like to see eventually ground expansion, and see us as a club that can attract 40-50k every week (we're selling out every match at the mo, plus we're in a one club county, so there's certainly a possibility). But this is for the future. Our aim this season to create a top-flight base to start from. Survival, then the world!!! Wmmmaaaaahahahahaha!!!

Yes ladies and gentlemen, I'd like us to be the new West Ham. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Club size is simple, it depends on how many people actually support the club, hence Man U and Liverpool will always be the biggest clubs, Leicester I've read are about the 14th most supported club, bigger then than Southampton, Hull, Norwich but smaller than Leeds, West Ham and Sheffield United. Now I've set the torch paper on fire I'll run.......

This site has created a formula which takes EVERYTHING into account. We're tie 30th, with Portsmouth, Swansea and.... Southampton!

For our regular visitors, Hull are 35th (amazed they're that high) and QPR are 39th.

    http://coachdaveblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/since-waybefore-advent-of-premier.html

To be fair though, this "formula" is pretty much bollocks. Not sure why last season's league finish has any effect on your club size, or why being a founder member does either (Accrington and Notts Co? please). And the fanbase appeal, here and abroad, is purely subjective. Do we get 30 pts for having a Thai fanbase? And being the only club in our county, should we get 30 points for that too? Add the 30pts for league cup wins, we've already exceeded the 80pts we've been given.

It is hard to create a formula for club size, but I'm sure this is not it. I just thought it was fitting that we received the same number of points as Southampton.

Well they'd get so many points just for being in the Prem in the 2012-13 season. Hull would be higher on that list now (it's a year old) and we'd be higher next year.

Oh, and the guy that put it together is a WBA fan. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Good post Gangnam...i think its what all newly promoted clubs should be aiming to achieve (noy yhe west Ham bit though.)

TF has jaus had an interview in one of our papers and says very similar to your post. he wants 20 seasons consecutive in the Prem. Now i know this is difficult for even the biggest of clubs to achieve but 5-10 should be a realistic target for a club with a decent following and good size stadium. At least it shows he is ambitious, and regardless of whether we go straight back down, its almost certain that we will get the new stadium so that should aid our survival.
As for our management team, they've started ok with a load of new faces and hoddle starting to make his mark, i think we'll survive.
Theres not much chance of us loosing either of our managers to bigger clubs or the national set up is there <laugh> so as far as stability goes, we are on a level at least with you guys. (Please note i said stability NOT ability <ok>).

As much as it may pain you guys, if Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Ure, Chelsea or maybe even Spurs come knocking for NP. i think you'd find it nearly impossible to keep hold of him (or anyone) and TBh it would be unfair on him if he ever achieves that level of recognition.

As for the England job. a few more good seasons and why wouldnt we put him in charge...?

    good luck lads <ok>
