Surely you could read about the same in ident in twenty papers and it wouldn't make a difference? The article has direct quotes which is what nsis was basing his judgement on..
Again, as afcftw has said, these are not my words. They are direct quotations from Bertie Armstrong, head of the Scottish Fishing Federation. His version of exchanges with Salmond are backed up others present at the Fisherman's meeting.
What is your point NSIS? That Alec Salmond is trying to intimidate Bertie Armstrong? This is an article written by a Union supporter in Union Supporting Paper about Bertie Armstrong who has put forward the Better Together case on his own website and claims it is apolitical. Salmond has objected to this and is therefore accused of intimidation. Sorry I don't go with that.
People like Spurf and others associated with the Yes campaign have taken a siege type mentality where they believe the Union and press have been using bully tactics and or spin and propaganda so they never see any reason when articles come from the telegraph, even if they make valid points or point out problems with Salmond and the way he conducts himself.
If you look at some of the links posted and videos on this thread by the yes voters, they are to extreme pro independence sites or clips, some of the sites look like private eye! They aren't offering a balanced view, just telling their supporters what they want to hear and trying to drum into them extreme views so they spread the word. Now they apparently have the sun backing them so they will obviously need the suns backing to stand a chance of a yes vote, which doesn't say much about the yes campaign giving voters the correct information if they are relying on the sun newspaper winning over the undecided with their classy approach.
Simple Boss, Salmond is human like the rest of us and from time to time will make mistakes but in a situation where the Establishment is doing it's best using all the powers at its disposal aided and abetted by the media to blacken his character I am just going to use my voice to try to present another side. People either don't want to or can't see this and then as far as I am concerned work with the establishment to help with the character assasination. As I said before I can understand the wealthy, the large corporations and those who imagine they are on their way to being wealthy going with the establishment it's ordinary folk supporting this staus quo that is sad IMO.
Considering Salmond on both his alleged day jobs is enough for me to know he is a vainglorious idiot at best, and at worst prevaricating on the most fundamental things (the currency, the future national debt etc) .
All of the links I have posted support the YES case, what would you expect? The question you should be asking is where are the links supporting the No case? That is for you to put up. You haven't because there are only scare stories and lies. Take the Darling link I put up with a recording of him on Good Morning Scotland in a 10 minute interview. In that time the YES guy identified and proved 5 lies from Darling. The facts are there they can all be checked and the figures come from Westminster Government figures. At the moment there is a leaflet from Better Together claiming super market bills will go up after a YES vote because of increased costs. TESCO have catergorically denied that this would happen. It is just another scare story to frighten voters. Gordon Brown comes to Scotland and tells the Scots to vote NO because their pensions are in danger. This is another straight lie, The Department of Pensions has already said that all pensions will be paid and so on & on. Scotland will not be able to use the pound LIE, It will take 5 - 6 years for Scotland to get into the EU LIE, The NHS is safe. LIE They are being found out as voters move towards YES. So Boss put up or shut up is what I am saying, you have produced no facts to support your position just opinions based on air.
This apparent character assasination has given your campaign a smart way to try and deflect issues away from Salmond as if you all adopt the approach the press are trying to blacken his name then it means people start to believe it and even when Salmond makes mistakes, they get overlooked by certain folk. I've heard many yes voters give reasons for their backing of the yes campaign and it's apparent most aren't aware of why they are voting and are bring driven by this Yes campaign, yes badges and banners, pride of Scotland. You say people are '' stupid " for voting no yet you have Salmond as the person fronting the campaign and people voting yes because the sun tells them to and they feel part of a campaign with their badge and flag, that's not what I call the behaviour of intelligent people.
The links are mostly extreme sites which means you're that far caught up in the yes campaign you have tunnel vision and refuse to take on the views that often catch you out. Of course I expect you to post links to the yes campaign but I'm surprised at your lack of balanced approach as remember when the vote is decided everyone in Scotland is as one. There's no divide between yes and no voters as we will all be living under the sane powers so these extreme views are giving you and others a false impression of the future under independence, if it happened. But as for lies, what about the lies about the NHS? You want to offer a balanced view or an extreme pro independence view?
Boss : You can get bottom line info very quickly on the economic situation. For example : it took me seconds to calculate that each 0.075 unit devaluation of a Scottish used currency against GBP costs 1/7 of the annual tax on oil/gas revenue.
More opinion and NO evidence whatsoever. There are meeting all over Scotland every night where YES people put their case and answer questions put to them. People supporting YES because the SUN tells them to.......... is that so? How do you know that? As I said I am still waiting for you to offer ANY evidence to support your position, your beliefs just don't cut I'm afraid. It is all here on this thread just look for the evidence from NO, there is none. This is why they are losing the vote. All the power of the establishment ALL of the media until Murdoch and they have completely failed to put a case. They are so busy spreading lies about YES thay failed to notice the Scots going to meetiings, distributing info and canvassing door to door. The mass of INFO from YES is everwhere.
Yet more opinions without facts. OK what extreme views are you talking about. The NHS for example, is this an extreme view?
I have an innate distrust of all politicians. However, and this is purely my gut instinct, I have a particular mistrust of Salmond. I don't believe he's been anywhere near honest enough with the Scottish public. He is evasive, overly aggressive at times, and strikes me as just another "say whatever they want to hear, so long as I get elected" politician. There has been nowhere near enough honest or clarity on either side. I would say again, were I Scottish, my answer based on what I have read and heard, would be No.
Is this an extreme view?
Note onlookers: I am posting evidence to support my view. The NO camp has opinions and gut feelings. I invite them to do the same as I do. The internet is out there all they have to do is find stuff that provides evidence for their view. NSIS did this with his Telegraph link and then we dabated it. Fair enough NO camp where are your links?
Apparently: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/surgeon-exposed-spreading-bogus-claims-4103150 Also, not everyone who questions the claims of the Yes campaign are part of the No camp.
My most basic calculation of Scotlands' tax revenue got very close to what the actual figures seem to be. There is a lot to be said for schoolboy economics.
You obviously know more about economic figures and data and correct way to research but in general this type of information isn't used ( for both sides) as it's more avoid direct questions about the economy and go with the '' win at any approach cost '' as Nsis points out. And as Pnp mentions, not everyone has an alliance with the Union, better together or a specific party and it's disappointing that people have to lie about the NHS to try and scare voters.
Yes PNP there has been a campaign to discredit Phillipa because of the power of what she is saying. She stands by her statement despite claims to the contrary from Gateshead. A very close friiend of mine has been closly involved with this and is the person who published Phillipa to the net. It is a question of who you believe. Your second point I accept PNP but I say again YES campaigners are grass roots, we are battling the establishment this is a movement of people not politicians there are YES supporters who do not support Salmond for example as well as many who do. Mostly here I am talking to English people who do not have a vote in this referrendum but as I explained I think this is just as important to England and I believe in the long run good for England. I am just doing my bit to give people down south a chance to hear another side from the one they are being presented with in the media.
