Just seen trailers for The Last Ship and The Leftovers...the latest offerings on Sky Atlantic. Both sound interesting offerings, probably full of good storylines and strong acting, but I no longer watch these types of shows. They are in the same vein as Lost, The Dome and The Missing...you know you will be ultimately disappointed as the story will drag on without resolution. None have the confidence to be one off dramas of 8-10 episodes. I have no confidence that the writers know the end when they start the series.
Yes, and Dan, your presence is required in the American Football forum! Joe, you're welcome to come too if you like.
Right, just off for first game of the season for the under 14s. Fingers crossed for a good performance.
Neil Young has always been my "one I don't get" - there's always one artist that everyone else seems to love but that you struggle with. I love "Horse With No Name" and "Cortez The Killer" but the rest I can take or leave. Preferably leave. I have a thing about nasal voices that bugs me.
Yeah I hate that. Did you watch Fargo? 10 episodes with no view to getting another season. It actually had a satisfactory ending.
I think you're absolutely right about that. I really, really like Neil Young's music, yet with some of it I wonder what all the fuss is about. So he manages to produce that effect in me all by himself. Occasionally his nasal delivery gets right up my nose [sorry]. Sometimes, like in Old Man or Cinnamon Girl for example, or his CSNY contributions, he's almost without peer.
Ah yes. There is a tongue-in-cheek theory that women aren't funny. Sandi Toksvig and Ronni Ancona explain it well on QI.
