It had a very tenuous link, there was absolutely no chance of that thread not turning into a discussion about Scottish independence and that's why it was closed. Safe standing is a football issue, as is Hillsborough, so both are absolutely fine. You can discuss the chances of the government changing the legislation on all seater grounds, you can discuss the police cover-up/incompetence at Hillsborough, you can discuss any football related issue, but if you start banging on about it all being Thatcher's fault, or only Liberal Democrats supporting safe standing, then it's become political and will be closed. I really don't think it should be that hard to figure out what constitutes a political thread, the moderation is not petty, very little actually gets closed or deleted.
Everything involves politics fella. Even when you're telling people you don't allow politics, it's politics. Looking down the first page of the Hull board and I see a politics thread by a Mod, non football related with no protest from yourself. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/276522-o-t-data-protection-and-the-www Can you blame people for wanting clarification fella? It looks like politics is wrong when it suits.
It's a thread on data protection, absolutely nobody is discussing which political party they support, what their beliefs are on immigration, EU membership, foreign policy, or any other political issue. It's only those out and out political threads that we don't allow, everything else is fine, barely anything every gets closed or deleted. **** me, people can try and a problem in anything.
You know the answers, as you have used this board for quite some time. It's a football thread board with some off thread discussion allowed; we have all seen what discussing politics and religion ends up like, so why make an issue out of some reasonable moderation? There are plenty of places to discuss them, just as you don't have to use this board.
You are being heavy handed in comparison to other mods on this forum, with the end result meaning a duller board. Prior to you returning as a moderator, many discussions were allowed the time to develop, some were closed after a moderator warning about their direction and some were allowed to continue. Guess what, by doing this no one got hurt and nothing got ****ed up. Adults discussed, moved on and didn’t need protection. I appreciate there’s a no politics rule. Fine – I have no problem with that and don’t seek to change it. But where does it end? Seemingly ends upon our judgement of what is, or what is not, politics.
I can die when I want? Strange that your staunch feelings didn’t stop you from engaging in discussion on ‘political’ topics such as the teachers’ strike last year.
You know there's a no politics rule, yet you started a Scottish indepence thread, it's no good bitching about it, you should have known better.
It mentions legislation in the first line. You clearly don't know what politics are. Which clearly leads to confusion which has led to people wanting clarification, and you've done nothing but bite at those people. Politics doesn't have to involve political party's. Fact This is where you tell me talking about legislation isn't politics. Surely if people want clarification you, as a mod, should clarify in detail, and discuss objections to find a resolution, not become a total prick to your own posters. Admit it, you don't do politics because you're incapable, to the point you don't even know what politics are so trying to bend the definition to your own agenda. Conflict resolution and mediation two aspects of politics needed by mods. You lack both, you're a diplomatic car crash. You snap at visitors and talk to your own like s**t. This is a dictatorship. Discuss what you like on our board lads. Our board is a democracy. Governed by laws which don't restrict your right of free speech but will intervene if the said laws are broken. please log in to view this image
Blimey, is this the level of detail of your scrutiny before closing a thread? I didn’t start the thread on Football/Scottish Independence nor did I even participate in it. I just created a thread (this thread in case you’re confused again) expressing my thoughts on the closure of it.
You certainly can discuss what you like on your board, recent discussions include the fact that the McCann's killed their own kid and the fact that Islam is evil and Muslims are all potential suicide bombers. I'd prefer that sort of **** to not appear on here, we have rather higher standards, but what browsers think of Sunderland fans is entirely your business. After all, you still allow Smug's to post and he's an utter ****. Thanks for popping by.
Apology accepted. But bitching? You see someone as asking questions or wanting a less heavy hand as bitching? This is a forum mate and I was questioning your moderation; I wasn’t questioning your business skills or your CV.
I thought I'd already explained where the line was drawn, we've had this in place for almost four years, people generally know the score and we rarely ever have an issue, I simply don't think there's a problem.
