I was there long enough to find proper beers and ciders thankfully hoke, Specs liquor store was also a good place to find decent drinks. #dontmesswithtexas
Its not about alcohol volume for me, its all about taste. The days of me having a drink just to get pissed are behind me
Nice weather in Portugal when arrived yesterday. Worked on tan. Woke up today n it's a bit foggy but should improve later. Thunder storms scheduled for couple of days next week According to phone but hopefully sun still comes out. Especially as it was meant to be nice in England!
Whereabouts are you mate? I love Portugal, we try and get a week in every year, not been this year yet, thinking of maybe going in early October
Hope you're getting on some proper rides and not just chaperoning on teacups and toadstools Nemesis Nemesis Sub Terra Air Smiler Rita Oblivion Th13teen Congo River Rapids The Flume
Yeah, every bloody season when were just getting settled in we have to endure a barren weekend. Its an outrage, and its all Hodgsons fault
Down on the south coast. Not in a very touristy bit so it's really quiet which is nice. It's Mid 20s just but cloudy at the moment so not too bad.
I've not been either so I'm very much looking forward to it Enjoy yourself mate, work on that tan when the sun comes out
We love Praia da Luz which is not far from Lagos. Lovely stretch of coastline all along the Algarve, I hope to retire there god willing.
Not been to Alton Towers since 1990... I was a fair bit younger then (as opposed to everyone else who was older in 1990). The one ride that stands out in my memory was "the beast" - I think I liked it because it was in blackness inside if I recall correctly. Don't know how often rides change and if it is still there... 24 years later I'm sure they have better rides. Was at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando last November (kids went to Disney whilst I was in a conference, but I got to go to Lego Land with them weekend before- and Universal the weekend after) - Harry Potter ride at Universal was pretty amazing. Takes place inside a Hogwarts castle replica and simulates you being on a broom... pretty impressive special FX. November is perfect time for Orlando- warm not to hot- and not very crowded (people either take vacation coming south for the warmth in Dec-Feb or in the summer when kids are off school... I got permission to take kids out of school for the week). Kids loved Disney- but I've never really had an interest in Disney so was glad to skip it... Wife's parents drove down to Florida to join them for the Disney bit anyway.
Alton Towers seem to come up with something new every couple of years. I recall Nemesis being all the talk when I was in my teens. Even had a drink in its honour
Milk, think you're getting The Beast confused with The Black Hole. Both have gone now but were quite similar rides being made by the same manufacture and having similar configurations. The latter was a dark ride inside a big tent. Their newest ride, The Smiler, now occupies the site where The Black Hole used to be. The Beast made way for a new ride called Air quite a few years ago. Most rides at Alton Towers rely on theming and using confined spaces in an innovative way. There's a planning permission order that means they're not allowed to build higher than the treeline, hence they have no very high rollercoasters but lots of twisty turny ones.
