But with the greatest of respect they HAVE walked away. There maybe reasons for it but they have.

Also if I'm being honest the 'super fan' argument does my head in. Their money is no more or less valuable than a Premier league fan's money and in modern sport that is the key word unfortunatly, money.

The proof of the value of their money will come if we get relegated, the longer term fans are more liable to have stuck by the club. You should take the time to speak to some of those you say 'just walked away' to get an idea of the soul searching and passion that went into the decision for many of them. Also, not getting a pass is not the same as not going. I was with a few of them at the European games.

I know a couple myself as I have been going with them until recently. The fact still remains that they have walked away from getting passes.

You say it as if they are lesser fans for doing so.

I have no idea why you've latched onto it, but the implications and consequences of that fact don't match what you claim.

Not at all that is their choice to do so. In much the same way as it is the choice of others to only support us when we are in the Prem.

Do they support us? It's hardly the same call from them is it?

With the greatest of respect it wasn't me that brought up 'ex-East standers and CTWD members replaced by Prem fans'.
My point is that as far as a modern Premier league football club is concerned they need the money the fact it isn't from long standing supporters isn't the issue, It should be but it can't be simply because our peers don't care that much about it.

    How?

They are in it only when we are a decent team, whereas most of those who haven't renewed are due to financial predicaments or have lost faith with the hierarchy and are normally there through thick and thin.

What point is it you're trying to make? You seem to be saying that someone turning up for the Prem, is worth as much long term as someone that's followed us years and now decided not to get a pass.

Loads of assumptions from both of us in that, but if that up there's your claim, it's patent nonsense from all angles.

TBH I think you are missing my point.
I'm not saying I like it but when others don't care where the cash comes from HCAFC don't have a lot of choice but to do likewise. If that means we move some fans around to get the away fans in a position were they can't generate atmos for the way team then that is a nessesery evil unfortunatly.

I haven't mentioned long term I'm talking about the here and now. A club our size in the Prem can only deal in the here and now. I don't like it as much as you do but being pragmatic other clubs don't give a **** about it as it's all about the money NOW not last year or 50 years ago but NOW.

Ah right. I think you'll find most do have to consider the future in most of their decisions, including investments.

It's a dice roll either way.
A Premier League club our size has a couple of choices.
1 They keep the prices low in order to make it stay affordable to fans they have always had and have a cheaper squad (In relative terms) and hope to stay up on a wing and a prayer.
2 They increase the prices knowing some fans are going to become disenfranchised or can't afford it but increase the quality of the squad (In relative terms) hoping to recoup the monies from new Premier League fans they may pick up on the back of a better team.

It's a risk either way. I'm certainly not taking it away from the long term fans.

Most of the fans I know that didn't get a pass, would still have paid the price. It was other issues that stopped them getting one.

Then that is their choice and I'm certainly not belittling them for making it.

That's interesting, care to expand on these people you know that did that? I don't know anyone that didn't renew solely because of that.
