It's still the opposite. If Assem Allam bought the club and sold its players and stadium, that's asset stripping. Now he could be pumping the business up to make it appear to be more saleable, but that would not involve spending on transfer fees and committing the club to higher wage bills, that all increases the liability. What Assem Allam is possibly doing is making the club become more capable of remaining in the PL and that means we have to show that the squad values are significant and compare well to clubs who are mid table and above.
I'm not saying anything about which group of stakeholders comes first just that as stakeholders the club needs us
They specifically said they'd walk away if they can't change the name on more than one occasion. That's not commitment. And just like at every other club, the owners aren't responsible for achievements. Managers and players are responsible for on-field achievements. That's why they get the medals. No one talks about an owners track record do they? That's daft. The vast majority of owners get on fine with their managers. There's hardly any owners in English football as bad with relationships as ours is. It's not like Allam hasn't fallen out with managers is it? How many owners other than Allam have sacked a manager simply for not denying a journalists suggestion that he didn't have money to spend? This thread is full of suggestions that it'd be wrong to want the Allams to leave. Can anyone back this up? Why should we be so scared of them going? These are the guys who've consistently lied to us for over a year, they only ever communicate with the fans to either have a pop or tell us we should like them. Under their regime every club statement has a "so **** the lot of you" undertone, in fact some of Allam's comments don't even need an undertone he just tells it straight with gems such as "go away and leave the club for the fans who just want to watch good football". He explicitly stated that he will fight against the FA decision and persist in trying to change our club's name and hasn't altered that stance publicly since, so there's absolutely no suggestion he's giving up with the name change crap. Even if he was going to suddenly give it all up, leaving us with the deafening silence on the issue we have now isn't acceptable; only a clear explanation of what he's going to do next along with an apology to the fanbase as a whole should grant him the chance to start afresh. The way he's treated the fans is disgraceful and it can't be swept under the carpet, although sadly most people on here seem to think it can. Some people seem to think the name change idea is the main reason some people don't like him. I don't think that's the case. If he'd come up with that idea and then backed down when it was explained to him how stupid it was then no one would mind. For me anyway, it's that he persisted with it despite all the evidence it was a bad idea and all the opposition to it, and in fact became more determined and stubborn from then on, and as time has gone on he's become more and more against the fans. The team are doing well on the pitch but that's not what he should be judged on. A liar is a liar even if the manager he appointed brings success. A cheat who rigs polls to make us look utterly embarrassing in the national media is just that, regardless of what Bruce achieves. We don't blame Allam for losing at Villa do we? Or for being knocked out of the EL? Of course not, because that'd be ****ing stupid. Just as brushing all the bad stuff he's done to one side just because we're successful on the pitch is incredibly shallow.
How many watch F1 and cheer for a team winning? Isn't it the sport, the driver and then the team. Not everyone who watches a football match actively supports either team, some watch for the sport. How many on here watch MOTD even if we are not on it. Surely that is the target "audience" that sponsors aim to reach.
And that is where the club us going wrong. Allam said he wanted to run the club like a business, so tell me what other business doesn't care about its stakeholders?
I think that you secretly fancy me, my arse should get EXIT ONLY tattooed on it. The club would get on fine if no one came to watch. The only reason they let ppl pay to watch is cos it raises a bit of income. All that **** about them being the 12th man? it isn't like the players can pass to them is it?? If I bother you that much, you know where the ignore button is
The fact is that whilst I prefer to have a "local" owner, I would rather it was a local consortium and the egoistic nature of our current owner would be neutered. I always think that the term liar is harsh as it implies intent. I also know that he was not liked before he bought the club and he will not be liked no matter what he does for Hull. But that is the nature of the man and some of it is a clash of cultural understanding.
OK, Mel - I only mentioned the Rusca... because there has always seemed to be summat smelly about that affair. (Others on here may know more). I actually agree with that last sentence of yours. City, without a ground, isn't worth more than its players, etc. So - is it AA's 'vanity project'?
A Prem team without any fans would be a laughing stock and the media would have a field day, what sponsor would want to be associated with that? I don't think anyone mentioned 12th man but what players want to play in an empty stadium, players have egos and want to be worshipped.
It wouldn't need a stadium, Slapper. Just a pitch, cos fans are not needed. (You said as much yourself).
I'm not saying that for most businesses shareholders aren't the most important stakeholder group but they need to consider all stakeholder groups, how would an energy company trade with no customers? I admit that energy companies get around caring about customers by price fixing but that's a whole different issue.
I said PAYING fans aren't needed. maybe the sponsors insist on it, but the main aim is for the sponsors to get their product/company on TV to get noticed by armchair managers, like you doc o'tool.
His name's Allam, you ****ing ****** and it doesn't matter to you where our stadium is, you never go to it.
