Save the pomposity mate. I watched Pep's Barca most weeks, and if you think that wandering round the edge of your box knocking the ball to one of the split CB's is something to marvel at, then I'd suggest you take your own advice

''11.12.2013 - After 13 games, Víctor Valdés has the best goalkeeping record in La Liga, with just 8 goals conceded. He also has the highest saves percentage in the competition (84%): he saved 42 of the 50 shots on target that he has faced.

Some keepers have made more saves, such as the 63 by Keylor Navas (Levante), 56 by Esteban (Almeria) and 55 by Moyà (Getafe), which is natural enough, as the keepers at those clubs generally have more work to do, but they have also let in a considerable number more goals.

Game two, in Malaga, Valdés prevented a late equaliser. And at Rayo he saved a Trashorras penalty when there was just one goal in it, and with the same scoreline against Almeria, he got the better of a one-on-one with Rodri.

But the Clásico was probably his best match. It was 1-0 just before the break when he prevented what looked like a certain Khedira goal. And in the second half, he pulled off a spectacular save to deny Cristiano Ronaldo. Safe as houses.''

We'll have to wait and see but that sounds pretty decent to me.

My opinions on their transfers are based on the wallet-rape suffered by Man Utd and not the quality of the players <ok>

Also on the fact that they address none of Man Utd's biggest problems

If you didn't already know, you only need to watch a minute or so of the video above to see that that's a myth.
It's just a bit of a laugh that goes around football that because Barca are so good going forward that anyone could do a job in goal for them. No-one actually thinks that, though.

It's called an opinion, it differs to your, I even said we should agree to disagree, but you seemed intent on trying to make out your view was somehow the better educated one.

I suggest you check the definition of irony btw.

"‘Don't go overboard with the gratitude,’ he rejoined with heavy irony"

plural noun: ironies
"the irony is that I thought he could help me"

synonyms: paradox, paradoxical nature, incongruity, incongruousness, peculiarity
"the irony of the situation hit her"

noun: dramatic irony; plural noun: tragic irony; adjective: dramatic

early 16th century (also denoting Socratic irony): via Latin from Greek eirōneia ‘simulated ignorance’, from eirōn ‘dissembler’.

Merriam-Webster defines irony as:

1: a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other’s false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning —called also Socratic irony

2: a) the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
b) a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony
c) an ironic expression or utterance

3: a) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result; an event or result marked by such incongruity
b) incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play —called also dramatic irony, tragic irony

A simple way of putting it is that irony usually signals a difference between the appearance of things and reality. For instance, here is how Wikipedia defines it: “Ironic statements (verbal irony) often convey a meaning exactly opposite from their literal meaning. In ironic situations (situational irony), actions often have an effect exactly opposite from what is intended.”

Confusion is such that there is even a website, IsItIronic.com, where you can post your own question about whether or not something is ironic. Readers will cast their own vote – you can see the percentages of the votes – and the website will provide the final yes or no verdict.

Here are some examples of irony (or the lack of):

Is it ironic that I posted a video about how boring and useless Facebook is on Facebook?
Reader’s Verdict: 93% NOT IRONIC; 7% IRONIC. Final Verdict: NOT IRONIC.

Is it ironic that the name of Britain’s biggest dog (until it died recently) was Tiny?
Reader’s Verdict: 75% IRONIC; 25% NOT IRONIC. Final Verdict: IRONIC.

Is it ironic that I can’t go to church because I have a theology test to study for?
Reader’s Verdict: 95% NOT IRONIC; 5% IRONIC. Final Verdict: NOT IRONIC.

Is it ironic that someone steps into a puddle and you make fun of them… and the next thing you know – YOU step in one!?
Reader’s Verdict: 94% IRONIC; 6% NOT IRONIC. Final Verdict: IRONIC.

Has Alanis Morissette spoiled irony for us forever? Perhaps my generation is just in recovery from her 1995 lyrics. What do you think – do you understand the meaning of irony? Do people around you?

I know what irony means. Was talking to a friend about this recently - he has no idea what it means, so I had to explain it to him (which was ironic because we were at a bus stop at the time).

Opinions can be informed or uniformed. Generally I'd only want to showcase the former.

Hardly, it wasn't exactly cryptic, just someone trying to be clever and failing.

Not surprising that you approve though...

Here I was thinking irony was an adjective pertaining to something appearing well-pressed!

You would have thought with a tactical genius at the helm, they would have ironed out all the kinks.
