One season wonder? Darren Bent's stats were much better than that. Doesn't prove anything.

I would sell Ade and Soldado, and get Remy and Boney in,the we would have a strike force!

I didn't say he was but he has scored 96 goals over the last 5 seasons compared to Remy's 73 which is a fairer comparison.

Bony is doing well at Swansea but so is Siggy who was a flop with us. Dyer and Routledge are also doing well at Swansea. These type of players perform well at small clubs and would only take a punt on Bony if we could sign him for 10-12 million but that's not going to happen.

Wasn't £24m quoted then? No sane person would have paid that.

You could say no sane person would pay 30 million for Soldado or 16 million for David Bentley.... Or 16.5 million for Darren Bent.

Again,it proves that he's more than capable of scoring consistently at Premiership level. We brought in a completely untried player in the premiership, Soldado. It hasn't worked, he's now 30, and not getting any younger.

I certainly know which one I'd rather have!....

Sigudurdsson was never really given a chance with Spurs. Just as Pienaar never was. Bony looks a natural predator. Yes, £24mil is top price, but compared to what else is available, it doesn't look bad. It's Welbeck + £8mill - look at it that way.

I like Bony and would be happy for us to take a punt, mainly because there are a lack of alternatives but my instinct with Bony is he's found his level.

But Siggy had his chances and wasn't up to standard. pienaar is a one club man, only capable of playing well in a blue shirt so unfortunately that move was always set to fail.

You need about 100 matches to be sure of anything - neither player had anywhere near that for us.

Soldado's record was much better than Remy's though and I still have hopes that last season will be a one-off. We didn't lose any money on Bent so it was a perfectly sane decision. Bentley was just one of those that went bad. Every club has them.

When Bent was signed we had three of the league's top strikers in Berba, Keane and Defoe. We spent 16 million on a striker who likes to play up top, on his own. Wasn't exactly thought through.

Soldado is never going to recover and I doubt any sane manager would give him 100 games to prove he can be a success.

Yes - he was also the most expensive player in the world at the time. Be realistic!

I have to disagree about that. I think Bony is a natural goal scorer, and that if he can do it for Swansea, he should do even better in a supposedly superior side. Siggy was played I frequently, in many different positions etc. it's little wonder he never really settled. Pienaar, through a combination of not getting selected, and injuries, was never even given a chance.

Yes, he was. And worth every last penny. I was lucky enough to be at WHL for his first game for us. He scored a hat-trick, including a spectacular overhead kick. Oh, to find one like him again!...

Bony has scored fewer goals than Soldado over the last five years in much lower standard leagues. We really can't base our signings on a run of a few games of success.

But again! Soldado has never done it in the English premiership, and looks very unlikely ever to. Bony has....
