You don't know why he's unattached then... suggest you look it all up, all happened last year.

He can do the hard stuff well but occasionally makes elemental mistakes... not sure how I feel about him but probably not much difference between Mignolet and him now. Better than Jones and could probably teach Mig a thing or two.

And on mistakes - they're a factor for every keeper. The best make fewer. It's obvious that when a keeper makes a mistake it usually results in a goal conceded. They're something we have to accept. The problem is that a keeper's style can create a greater possibility of mistake. Lloris and Valdes for example are 'sweepers' and inevitably make more mistakes despite maybe being 'better' technically.

    Here's Lloris

    Schmiechel

    Neuer

EDIT: So we can see it's all about whether you're willing to sacrifice reduced risk of errors for a philosophy in which the keeper is expected to play a bit more... and it's hard to tell how that influences points over a season. At Barca for example they won through domination of the ball - couldn't have done that with Asmir Begovic in goal.

Every now and then, Neuer used to have an absolute mare of a game. He seems to have cut that out now though.

Could be wrong but I've a vague recollection of an error at the start of this season? Something I've watched on twitter probably <laugh>

No doubt he's a goalkeeping machine. Actually think he might be one of those human shells with an alien in from Men In Black...

Worth watching this if you need cheered up... some astonishing saves!

At their peak Barca could have won with me Nan in goal, as the opposition never got the ball!

  15. Never? I don't recall too many games where they had 100% possession

That's the point... Valdes was no small part of that.

This idea expressed by some that Barca could of put pretty much anyone in goal during their dominant years is bizarre.
Sure, you can create compilations showing bad mistakes over a number of seasons by any top keeper as has been shown.
But Valdes will be an excellent choice as our no.2,I'm quite happy with him anyway.

He really wasn't. He was largely a spectator imo. So we'll have to agree to disagree mate.

Have to question what you know about Guardiola's Barca and how the philosophy works.

If you think he was a spectator then fine... remember it's best not to speak if you have nothing to say.
