Sunday at 3am our time Isla is due to be playing against Mexico in California for Chile. Then Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at 1am our time he is due to play against Haiti. With the change in time zones and all that flying can we expect him (or Vargas) to play against United just 4 days later Guess it will be Onouha or 3 at the back with someone playing out of position in a 3-5-2. Neither option is that appealing http://www1.skysports.com/football/teams/chile/fixtures
we cant go like for like and play 3-5-2 against Utd. Ill be furious if we do after the success that every other team has had against it playing 4 at the back
nelsen could fly to nz and still make it back to give 100% islas a lot younger shouldn't be a problem for him
Good point kiwi, I remember at the time ( was it World Cup qualifiers) I was concerned because of his injury history and his age but it didn't seem to bother him in the slightest.
I agree. I sit / sleep bad twice each month every month during 14 to18 hour flights, and go straight to work for a 12 hours when I get back here, and I'm a bit older than these blokes. They will have time to sleep all they need before going to work on Manure. They can travel 1st Clsss in beds anyway on their wages.
Isla has trained with the team already so probably would only need to be involved in light training and tactical work. Both him and Vargas will have been working on match fitness anyway. I think we could play Isla and have Vargas to come off the bench. I think that once again, the international break has come at an inopportune moment for us in terms of playing matches and moreso playing Man U. We need to try to play fearlessly and let the United worry about themselves.
You are correct, because Nelson was known for his 50 yard mazy runs taking players on...and not just sitting back soaking up pressure and booting the ball a far as he could forward.
The assumption of its 1st class it will be fine is a load of bollox if you think about it. If he’s kicking off at 3am on Weds morning best case scenario he’s on plan at 10am but in all likelihood later having been awake all night/morning our time. We don’t want him kipping on the flight back because by the time he arrive here at5/6pm its gonna feel like 7/8am to him and he will be up all night and wanting to sleep when we’re all getting up. So in reality we’ll want to stay awake most the flight back so he can try and get his body clock back in sync by Sunday. Don’t think you’ve thought it through
I agree & 1st class does make a huge difference. I fly 100-120,000 miles a year and regularly do a full days work straight off the plane even though my body is not in the right time zone. A lot of jet lag is a state of mind - if you convince yourself beforehand you're going to feel crap you probably will....& vice versa. Being able to lie down and sleep on the plane is a huge benefit and I'm fortunate that on the longer flights I get to enjoy that luxury.
100% right, the state of mind stuff especially. Sounds like you fly even more than me, think I'm up to about 80,000 so far this year, but a relatively quiet few months to come. I always just go straight into the time zone where I'm working, no going to bed early. Also avoid any medication to 'help'. Lie flat seats on long flights certainly help, plus a bit of discipline avoiding food and films sometimes. Mind you, I'm crap at the work.
I've got people working for me that drive 5miles to work go straight into whatever zone they live in and are crap at work, definitely a state of mind thing
wow learn somethind new every day. SB and canada hoop are professional atheletes who cross 7 time zones at a time and play against top teams in world sport with no affect on performance Your situations arent comparable. Urs is more like a hangover. I work in the city and i'm mid session after a good chunk at lunch. i'll get back at 3ish in the morning and be at my desk at half 8 2mo. now I can get away with that but i'm broking tomorrow and not marking di maria
He's been picked for Chile despite being in a different time zone so the national manager obviously doesn't think it's a crushing scenario. You'd never see a South American after a break but they're always there the following Saturday. Falcao and di Maria presumably in the same boat. If it was me, I'd stay up from morning there until the following evening and have an early night (by a couple of hours) and get up as normal. That gives Friday to train at the right time and get settled and prepared.
