    
Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson has broken his silence regarding events at Huish Park last night.

Speculation was rife that the former Bristol City boss was about to part company with the Somerset club when he arrived just moments before kick-off for last night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Portsmouth and left it to assistant Terry Skiverton to issue instructions from the touchline.

Johnson departed soon after the final whistle, leaving Skiverton to face a quizzical media following Yeovil’s 3-1 defeat.

But Johnson, who still lives near Bristol and managed the Robins between 2005 and 2010, today issued a short statement through local journalist Chris Spittles on Twitter.

He said: "I'm having a quiet reflective period after a hectic transfer deadline evening.

"The chairman is currently on holiday and I am waiting for him to return to speak to him about how to proceed."

Spittles added: “That was all Gary was prepared to say. I don't anticipate him elaborating any further until he has had a meeting with (chairman) John Fry.”

I'll get in early. I do not want him back at City, now or forever.

We have a very good manager at present and at last appear to be making a bit of headway

GJ was excellent for us up until we lost at Wembley. After that it was only going to go one way.

Would I want him back ? No is the short but resounding answer

    Lots of reasons.
Brother as chief scout who brought very little to City.
Unable to manage those from a higher level than Lge One.
    Teacup thrower style of management.
    etc and etc.

Most successful manager since Alan Dicks.
Ousted by a vocal minority with fantasies of nepotism.
The same minority claimed we would not move forward with GJ at the helm.

By the way, where are we now? Yeah - league F-ing ONE FFS.

No I wouldn't want him back - let Cotts finish the job we need stability.

To be fair he didn't have much competition over the years since AD....but give him his due he did take us to within a whisker of glory.

I wouldn't mind him back, but I'd much rather have a younger manager with plenty of ideas. I'm still warming to our current manager, but should we ever dispense of SC's services I'd like to see us give a young and hungry manager fresh from the highest level that wants to take on a project, not a manager that wants to relive his best days.

Outside of a decent wage, I can't see why GJ would want to come back anyway. He won't do better than he already did for us.

I'd only have him back if Cotterill wasn't in charge anymore, however I doubt Cotterill will be leaving any time soon, so no.

He was young, but he was never an established name anywhere outside of Scotland. I was thinking more along the lines of a Paolo Di Canio type, or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer; a manager that has played at the highest level and can apply some of that knowledge to our club. For a long time I've felt that a club with our monetary backing and our fan base could only go far with the right kind of manager, someone that knows what the top clubs do well.

I don't know if it makes you feel better thinking you were in a silent majority but you weren't, most of us knew we were heading to league one, whether you like it or not.!

(fantasies of nepotism, HA..) Brother and son both here achieving very little,, I don't know what your definition of nepotism is?..

    Hurrah! I've got a bite!

    Ok let's see:

League position when anti-GJ pressure ousted GJ was 15th in the Championship - after beating West Brom I seem to remember (I think LJ scored in that game)

'We need rid of GJ for the club to move forward' was the type of sentiment aired on forums at the time.

What followed were successive seasons of struggle ending with the inevitable.

We are now looking forward to Cotts taking us where GJ did in 2007 - let alone a playoff final.

Forgive me if I think - no I KNOW we were better off then - unless League 1 is somehow better than the Championship......?

What about all the 'bouncing' in the good days.?

None of the above is my opinion - just simple FACT.

I love these selective memories you have.. You fail to mention that win was the 2nd in 12 games with us 7 points off relegation and having been whacked at home 6-1 by Cardiff, but hey it's all still facts.. Do you work for the Government by any chance?

    "Hurrah! I've got a bite"

This makes me laugh, anyone only has to put the words GJ or Johnson or junior or such like on any thread and out you come.! It's the subject you post on.

    Goodnight Banksy.

Like with Redprintt we won't agree.

I just want the best for us. GJ nearly delivered it.
Cotts has 2 seasons to take us there if he is to match GJ's 'achievements'.
    I hope he does.
