I counted at least 8 subs for Norway yet Tettey didn't get a run out, total waste of time watching this **** .

I'm amazed people can still be bothered about the England team.

He's no different to the rest, they all have their limitations.

Thought Sterling was easily Englands best player, interesting to see him in midfield.

Agreed on both Sterling looking sharp and Welbeck looking surprisingly good. I didn't really rate Welbeck, but he does have the occasional spark.

The rest was dreadful. Both sides. Though Norway kept shape as you would expect. The Norwegian midfield was crying out for Tettey's dynamism for one thing

In a way, given he's been phenomenal and yet also is a bit injury prone, with the long season we have I'm kind of glad he didn't go out in a pointless friendly against an appalling English team, even if it would have been great for him personally and nice for us to watch.

I'm surprised he didn't play. I know it was only a friendly but Norway looked pretty weak in their midfield and Tettey would have been a huge improvement. Still, rather he was safe from injury.

Roy in the press saying that attendances might be low because of the calibre of opposition. What an idiot.

The crowds are low because of the calibre of our own team! Open your eyes Roy you fool!

    Sad but true.

I've always been an advocate of supporting your country, both in person and on the box, but last night was the first time I didn't bother in (many) years. I did switch on briefly to see if our boy was playing, when it was evident he wasn't, I went back to my book.

Sadly, I can't see myself feeling any different when the qualifiers come around. Shame.

I think it's got as much to do with how mind-numbingly boring EVERY single England game is, as it is to do with how bad we are. Honestly, England have to be the most boring team to watch in England.

I saw him running up and down the touchline in a pale blue bib so he was in the squad #21 but he didn't get any minutes on the pitch .

The qualifiers may as well be friendlies considering how many teams qualify for the finals. Top two qualify automatically and third go through if they've got a lot of points. Switzerland are the only decent side in our group. Can't see Lithuania, Slovenia, Estonia or San Marino putting up too much resistance. The fact one of those could qualify makes a bit of a mockery of the process really.

Bit of a shame the Republic of Ireland and Scotland got put in a group with Poland and Germany, they could have got much easier groups.

are you seriously suggesting wembley would have been half full if the germans had rolled into town last night?

get real! norway are a poor draw. yes this england side is poor and there is discontent and disconnect from fans but they are still very well backed considering how little there has been to cheer over the years. over 40,000? that's still big. that's roughly the same as chelsea get every week and way more than 99.9% of international teams. england are arguably the best supported international team in world football, at home and abroad. its got little to do with the quality of the england team and much more to do with the opposition. you don't chose where you are born. why should england be any different from any club side? you might not feel the same about them but i guarantee if england have similar success to say spain or germany in ten years time, you'll all be back following them again. what happened to thick and thin?

therefore you're all glory hunters. its a valid point <laugh>

for the record i didn't watch it. well, it clashed with the great british bake off! which would you watch...?

If we were playing Germany Brazil or Spain last night there would have been much more people at the game.

Whilst high quality opposition would have boosted attendance, so would the prospect of a good performance. If fans could go into games confident of a decent display and several goals, attendances will rise.
