You have to start with 11 players no matter what you do subsequently (and, of course, you can only change 3). I'm sure Ron has in his mind the majority of his regular starting 11 the rest, as many have suggested, rotating as suits our opponents and tactics on the day.

I don't understand the parnoia about a contract when you have a year left. I have had fixed term contracts and you always feel great to get them renewed a couple of months before they expire. I guess it is the premaddona world of the footballer, where all hints of stress shoud be removed by their loving agents (and renewal fees paid into said agents' accoutants) as early as possible.
