Which club will win the Premier League this season? 20% Arsenal 0% Aston Villa 1% Burnley 39% Chelsea 0% Crystal Palace 1% Everton 0% Hull City 0% Leicester City 13% Liverpool 13% Manchester City 9% Manchester United 0% Newcastle United 0% Queens Park Rangers 0% Southampton 0% Stoke City 0% Sunderland 0% Swansea City 2% Tottenham Hotspur 0% West Bromwich Albion 0% West Ham United http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/poll/2014/aug/13/premier-league-club-win-season-2014
so this is a popularity contest half the time. what can you say about such an opinion poll. 1. Perhaps there are a few wags involved as voting for burnely and everton would suggest that. 2. 90% of people answering honestly woudl say chelsea and the result reflects that. however there is a sizable proportino who will refuse to answer honestly due to delusion or club bias. 3. Delusion = tottenham 2%, arsenal 20% (how the f are a club that implodes on cue every february and has now only welbeck as a striker til christmas second favorites over man city? delusion. 4. Club popularity. frankly the phfackt that utd got 9% of the vote shows their support, yes it probably shows they are deluded too but it does show the support too. The same can be said for LFc at 13% if you allowed say 7/*% just voting for their club then that would mean some utd and some lfc fans are nuts as well but nowhere near the level of nuttiness as arsenal.
"2. 90% of people answering honestly woudl say chelsea and the result reflects that. however there is a sizable proportino who will refuse to answer honestly due to delusion or club bias." You may think/believe that but you cannot claim it as being fact - unless you actually do have any proof?
Ok that's fine dave it's my opinion. Hands up i admit it is just my opinion that 90% of people (which to my mind means most people) think chelsea are going to win this... the only evidence i can offer is the latest odds which put chelsea as favorites and the poll pulled in 39% for chelsea comapred to 13% for city. I don't think again in my opinion that Chelsea are that popular to justify it being a pure club fanbase vote. I do think agian in my opinion there is a sizable amount of people who just refuse to vote honestly and will either vote along club lines as we see above OR are messers OR are deluded. I think honestly that there's nto 20% of the population that think arsenal have a hope here... Maybe some are neutrals who genuinely think it, maybe some are arsenal fans who really think it and maybe some are just voting to say i support arsenal.
Polls of this nature are bedevilled by by bias - (both concious and unconscious). We can't even rely on the odds being offered by the bookies as they are manipulated so as to attract particular groups of punters. I'm afraid that we will have to wait until 2015 before we can get a more informed picture of the true state of the runners and the riders.
Man City v Chelsea on 21 September will be a big game City win: Mourinho's mental fragility could see him declare Chelsea out of the title race and anyone he thinks played bad could be frozen out Draw: Mourinho would consider this a win, especially a 0-0 draw which is worth 4 points Chelsea win: they will have great momentum and a nice gap starting to open if they also beat 2nd-placed Swansea the week before
I think City are going to win this game this time around. Jose's lighening is unlikely to strike twice.
Man City play Arsenal then Chelsea, with Bayern Munich away in between On the one hand I don't want Chelsea opening a gap that will given them confidence to not #bottle it, on the other if City don't drop points in these fixtures they are unlikely to do so later I guess we just need to win our own games and hope everyone else draws
If i had to have such fixtures i would love it to come this early.... I'd not want to lose to bloody stoke just prior though.. Its a test of maureen. if we goes for a 0-0 it just says something about him
I seem to remember thinking that Chelsea would edge it. Regardless, I never thought at the time that we'd end up higher than them. My point is that a guess, even an educated guess, is still just a guess, and we shouldn't be handing out any trophies just yet. (Almost) anything can happen between now and May.
well a guess is just a guess but isn't anything you place a bet on then pointless..... money on chelsea is all i'm saying and basically its stil a risk but not as high as arsenal
