Given 7 - he squad has more depth. Would have scored 8 if we had paid less for Long and Mane looks a slight risk.
Outs:- Lambert 6/10 Lallana 7/10 Shaw 9/10 Lovren 8/10 Chambers 3/10 Osvaldo 10/10 Sharp 10/10 Hooiveld 10/10 Ramirez 6/10 Ins:- Pelle 8/10 Tadic 9/10 Bertrand 8/10 Forster 9/10 Long 5/10 Gardos 7/10 Alderweireld 9/10 Mane 8/10 Staying Where They Are:- Schneiderlin 10/10 Rodriguez 10/10 Overall: 152/190 (8/10) Definitely before we saw some of the incomings, I'd have had lower scores for the outgoings. But, the fact we've achieved to get some of the names there for less net transfer fees than we received despite clubs knowing we had money, and more importantly that we can attract those types of player despite the media playing up some kind of meltdown has left me feeling quite refreshed. Expecting somewhere between 53-63pts this year, and would be surprised if we're not top 10 (I'd say 80-85% that we will be). COYS!
7 for me. Disappointed to see gaston go at the death. Club have done well rebuilding. Quite excited about the season ahead now.
Went for 6/10 With three players yet to play and our performances so far i'd say the squad looks to be about the same strength as last season. The fact we've done this and have made money makes it an above average window
Wide Bill - I felt that at the time but thinking about it, bearing in mind he is a top earner is it worth keeping him for 10 minute cameo performances that may but may not make a difference to the match (& that's when he is actually fit) Financial common sense I would suggest. Not sure how Hull will pay his high wages though as they don't appear to be big spenders
Keeping Morgan, JRod & Jack Cork were the most important points of this window for me, followed by a few signings which appear sound - but time will tell.
Away in Portugal for a couple of weeks, so haven't been able to post for a while so I hope everyone is doing well, and are as equally impressed as I was with our deadline day business. Very happy to see Alderweireld sign, as I thought we had lost out to Sunderland, and although I had never heard of him before Sunday, Mane seems a very tidy signing. Ronald is the man, and I for one am really optimistic now for the season ahead. Up the Saints! P.S Good to see you back posting again DTLW.
Yeah, it's actually Gazzaniga and Boruc behind the masks, and they might end up going out the door anyway, but this is the only photo I have of Ramirez and Hooiveld together, and I thought it was cryptically amusing.
''Summing up the window It has become pretty clear over the summer that the exodus has more to do with players' egos and their desire for financial rewards than any so-called "lack of ambition" at the club. Saints have spent heavily to replace the players, and in fact are amongst the biggest spenders in European football in this window as they prepare to rebuild under a clearly ambitious Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman has set about strengthening every area of the pitch and brought in a mixture of unknown quantities and proven Premier League players and internationals. While the St. Mary's faithful will know what to expect from the likes of Fraser Forster and Shane Long, it's Graziano Pelle and Florin Gardos who could take the division by surprise and La Liga winner Toby Alderweireld is somewhat of a coup. Dusan Tadic has had a fine start to his first ever English campaign, while persuading Morgan Schneiderlin to stay may well prove Koeman to be a genius. Rating: 8/10'' Sorry if posted before, but found this on ESPN site. I too hope Koeman is a genius.
Yes, I read that elsewhere too and quietly enjoyed the conclusions the author comes to. And they're not unrealistic either.
Have we finished? https://www.clubcall.com/southampton/tunisian-ace-interests-saints-1739611.html We're short of a midfielder
Milner for 5m in January? Yes please. http://news.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/foo...cut-price-utility-man-january-buy_211036.html
Sounds a bargain, but as any woman will tell you buying something because it is cut price isn't always the best decision. If we wouldn't pay full price for Milner, do we want him when he is on sale. I have admired Milner in the past, but we should only consider him if we think he will be improved at Saints. I suspect he will be snapped up by someone else anyway, so may be a moot point.
