I know it's difficult to see with blinkers on, I'm the same ;)

Rooney dived AFTER escaping a tackle and a poor touch early on, ref didn't buy it. Wilshere tried to con the ref on the penalty incident, he didn't try to get away from any tackle, he saw a tackle and went down long before contact to try and win a penalty. Again the ref wasn't fooled, only mistake he made was not to brandish a yellow to put a stop to it. Cahill dived/simulated a foul against King by the touchline, the ref fell for it. He tried it again a couple of minutes later, this time the ref didn't repeat his mistake, and it ended with a good chance for Norway.

It's probably naive/wrong by me to expect higher standards by England than others, but that's being English to me. Sadly football is only heading one way re diving, and England are unfortunately no exception.

Easy MOM simply because he does different things I honestly can say that I knew where every ball was going and so did Norway .

    Now the talk

Needs a complete revolution IMO but these young lions could well do it

    Ok mate.

I agree that English players have got worse but they are not in the same league as many Imo.

They need time and to be played in the right formation. There is a lot of potential.

Ok, maybe harsh to tar every player with the same brush. Probably no coincidence that the players mentioned play for regular Champions League clubs (United, Arsenal and Chelsea), I know it's a part of the game now, it's just that I despise it!!!!

Henderson's a terrible player. It made sense playing him when he could partner Gerrard, but he needs to be bombed out ASAP now. We really lack a central midfielder with pinpoint distribution abilities. We've got the pace + trickery to get at teams down the wings, but always seem to spread it out wide in an amateurish telegraphed fashion.

1-0 England. Penalty. Haven't seen it either, just the highlights and gather there weren't many. The Norwegian Manager said they were practising parking the bus and countering in practice for a Euro against Italy. The Norwegian TV said Norway were pathetic, and England were barely threatened. Just to give a Norwegian perspective amongst all the English!

I reckon 1 Norwegian player - Joshua King, Norway's 1 highlight on the TV and sometimes very good but he seems to be injured a lot.

If last night's England team were hypothetically in the Premier League where would they finish? Certainly not in the top half. Rooney is a liability as is Jones and the Ox simply isn't good enough. One world class player and that's Sterling, the rest...

No manager can change that, we would be lucky to consider ourselves in the world's top 20 whatever FIFA rankings say. A larger version of Scotland with less gingers is all we are.

I was at the game with Mats Daehli's dad!! My friend who's a football coach has trained Mats since he was 7. So we were given tickets by his dad and were sitting with all the Norwegian players family and friends. So as you can imagine it was a bit awkward when he got stretchered off, thankfully the injury doesn't look that serious. But the bummer was it stopped us being able to join him and the players after the game.

The highlight of the game was being surrounded by what looked like a bunch of cloned women, all absolutely stunning, petite and blonde with their hair in a pony tail.

His dad was a really nice guy and yes he's a journo, not sure what team he supports though. I'm just hoping Mats is fit to play Italy next week as he's given us tickets and my mate was going to pay for us to go and stay there for the game.

I disagree re Norway as they kept the ball as well as England and could of scored early in the second half. That was nothing to do with England not waking up after half time they were outplayed for 15 minutes second half and looked very weak. That Norway side is more or less the u21 team … yes they came to frustrate and hold England can I ask what other tactics they would have. Growing team there and very solid behind the ball. I cannot understand the footballing circus sometimes when they have their England hats on … It's a game and you can't score without the football. That Norway team has on some reports 48% overall possession, 2 shots yes but both on target.

Harold is a muppet at times and to think that some thought he was ever good enough to run a national team… You can even guess his line up now … it would mainly be Spurs and and he would talk Frank and Rio to come back

Well he's not wrong. Not since the eighties have we been further away from qualifying for a major tournament.

Not sure DT know how close he is, it is pretty much a promoted U21 side. We are looking to go through change in generation in one fell swoop. Which is not a bad thing, they will only get better and have done well at U19 and U21 level, playing some attractive stuff. Big change from our historically 4-5-1 hoof ball style. Last night I think they did well all things considered, with more experience we might come good.

Northern belles: Girls in traditional dress. Norwegian women are stunning, says Dom, but sadly so are the men

Bergen, where in Dec 1974 I was very fortunate to celebrate my 21st birthday, in the company of some very liberated young Norwegian lasses. I was there for one month while our Norwegian owned & crewed seismic survey vessel was in annual dry dock, so lots of time on ones' hands for the scientific crew, that I certainly put to good use! Now 60, married with 5 kids, reflecting on this - oh to be young again and travelling the world.
