I'm not sure I can think of any sports where I wouldn't support the British over another nationality to be fair. Probably not thinking hard enough though. Give me some examples for yourself to inspire me ?

    We need more superlatives.

This is the greatestest performance by an England team everest.

In a word, yes. I'm not that passionate about any other sports really, but I'd never support another country over England. Individual sports might be slightly different as they sometimes represent themselves rather than the country. In team sports where the team is 'England' how can you possibly support anyone else?

Welbeck's made a difference. I really like him, always seems a bit under-rated to me. He's another one who's criticised for not getting 30 goals a season, but his all-round game is excellent, and I think he'll score more at Arsenal with more game time anyway.

He's British though, so not an example, or are you saying you support his opponent?

An individual represents their country just as much as a team does.

So you mean you support his opponent ? All of them or just the odd one like Djoko?

Nope, I'd support Murray myself even if he is a whinging Scot.

However, I'm sure many wouldn't as he isn't English. I think "British" is probably not really supporting the argument of national pride. Would be fairer to stick to English.

Not exactly - what if their opponents are of the same nationality?

You would. But lots of Brits support Djok or Nadal or Fed etc and not Murray.

If he were playing against an English man I would support the latter, against an Irish or Welsh man I would be indifferent, anyone else then Murray..

Actually, lots of none Scots would. It doesn't really work for British really rather than just English. if it was an English tennis player I think most people would support them over any other nationality player. The whole point was about national identity.

They are each representing their country. They don't stop competing just cos they are the same nationality.

No lots of English support foreign tennis players rather than their own. Also golfers and boxers and athletes etc.
