He has to more or less bounce out of his chair on MOTD now just to appear to have the same level of tone in his voice as anyone else.

Must be exhausting for him. His factory-setting is 'Monotone with a touch of drawl', so spare a thought for him when he's preparing for broadcast. Must be 10 gallons of coffee and a palm full of MDNA rushing through his blood just to get him to sound enthusiastic about an away win for Southampton.

The come down must be tough.

So it's okay to just be a fairweather fan for the national team? And when we win the WC in 2038 is it okay to come back and say you supported them all along? Not you specifically btw.

For once something I completely agree with regarding England. Every game it's just strewn together, we're forever experimenting but haven't had a settled side for about 10 years. I remember in the early noughties we had almost the same team all the time. I know we didn't win anything but we were better than we are now.

That's the other sports' problems. You support your local team; club and country.

It's the Arabic equivalent of the definite article. Effectively it means 'the'.

Consequently, in names it's essentially a qualifying placeholder.

    Hope this helps.
