THE go-ahead has been given for Siemens' wind turbine factory in Hull.

Detailed proposals by Siemens and Associated British Ports (ABP) for the £310m Green Port Hull development at Alexandra Dock were unanimously backed by councillors at a planning meeting this afternoon.

Construction is expected to start later this year.

Siemens' project manager for Hull, Finbarr Dowling, said: "We are delighted to have cleared this important stage of the process.

"These are significant engineering projects which will soon be emerging in the public eye.

"We remain confident the facility at Alexandra Dock will be operational by July 2016."

What would happen if we left the EU?

This isn't political; I'm just interested in the business side of it.

You are aware they're making 150m tall wind turbines, right?

Would make trade a bit more expensive, unless the gov opened up trade flows. The likelihood would be that Siemens would employ more british workers in more positions but thats just a guess

They're only 150m tall when they're built, they're on the ****ing ground while they're making them.
