I read somewhere that Maggie said that Rodwell was the first big signing since Short came that's been paid for out of the clubs own revenue. If true we should be now debt free. With another large chunk of tv money up for grabs we could see a bit more freedom in the market for Poyet and Congerton next summer. Safety then sky is the limit. I trust these two more then any recent managers/DOF to seek out next level signings.

It's been a tight window on spends and we've still brought in a lot of quality. Imagine a 40-50 million war chest to spend on 2 or 3 players instead the whole sale changes made in recent seasons.

Exactly. Would be bloody nice to have some real stability and progress at the club.

It has been a good window for all the reasons outlined above but the club should of pulled the Borini money off the table months ago and Gus shouldn't of talked about wow signings. I think we have done very well but the perception built up and the comments did expect more than we got. I just hope now the dust has settled that Gus puts Wickham back in the middle and drops Fletcher as that's just not working and probably encourages Wickham to not sign being stuck on a wing while we continue trying to get the miss firing scotsman to fire up.

They say that a great looking budget by the exchequer is bad news while a boring one turns out to be good.
In the same way this could be a great window for us with Christmas to look forward to so we can shaw up the gaps that appear.
Optimists, we always find something to enthuse over!

So, taking all of the above in the account, it was maybe a PR blunder with Gus wording, rather than a poor window.

If we can improve the same amount again each 12 months, in 2 years we will be right up Evertons arse.

As I said earlier Poyet is still learning and that mistake won't be made again.

For him to have said he was hopeful of Borini coming he must have had encouragement from the player's agent.

He'll now be blacklisted and no longer welcome at the SOL.

Could be on my own here but I'm pleased we still have Fletcher.
If he gets the service he could bag loads for us this season.

he's losing me, the absolute disinterest is the concern.

I'll sharp forget if he starts scoring, but not worth his shirt at the minute.

In the system we play with Gus he cannot hold the ball up. That was the problem to me at QPR so it keeps us under pressure and gives the other team momentum. Altidore plays the role the best but at the moment cannot get the end result which Wickham did at the end of last season. If Altidore can come through I think we will be smoking....
