Limited resources? Stoke's net spend was £80m across the 5 Prem seasons while he was there. During that time, only Man City and Chelsea spent more. Limited resources my arse.
God, yes. Let's face it - looking at the players available, not even Paul Daniels could achieve success in the next four years. We're right in the middle of a ten-year talent slump between the 'golden' 32-plus generation (who turned out to be merely OK) and what looks like a pretty promising crop currently aged 17-22.
I dont think |I will be watching its about as appealing as this newly painted gate post drying so something else. Hope Norway win convincingly just to get shut of that bumbling t**t. Surely the FA must have heard the rumblings round the country.
I'm going to the game but I doubt very much I'll watch, the free bar and buffet is the only enticing element of it. Oh, and the red-hot women in Club Wembley.
I'll be watching. Then when we get beat I'll be laughing at that idiot Woy looking confused and trying to explain it.
I won't be watching a) I hate meaningless friendlies where there will be countless substitutions in the 2nd half b) Don't want to hear the usual crap like "We've got something to build on" if we happen to win c) Don't want to hear the usual crap about being in transition if we fail to win d) I am totally disillusioned with our national team. I wouldn't go to Wembley unless HCAFC were there - the infrastructure is sh1t around the stadium and I couldn't be ar5ed to sit on a coach for hours just to watch a poor national team
what a mumbling bunch of moaners you are qualified for every world cup since 98 you don't really think you could win anything? england are at their level, it's not a bad thing and off topic wheres carmine?
Really? I saw this England thread a couple of hours ago and I've only just managed to be arsed to even open the thread! On the other hand I shall be glued to a stream watching Uruguay on Friday and Monday.
You sure? Man U spent more in 11/12 and 12/13 alone. £16M a year to turn a championship side into a top ten PL team, not that bad really. Finances aside, he is excellent at getting the best out of a squad with limited capabilities, there are very few managers that could have achieved what he did at Palace last season.
The other thing I would say is, to all those moaning about Hodgson - who would you have in the squad instead? I'm of an age, as like many others on here, when we have grown up having constant arguments after every squad was named with incredulation what X, Y and Z werent picked. Matt le Tissier was a perennial one for example. But I honestly can't think of anybody who isnt in the squad who should be. It's unfortunate that we just have the worst crop of players in, well probably ever. And before anyone says the obvious - there is no way in the world I would pick Davies or Huddlestone on form for this season. I wouldve taken Davies to the world cup based on last season but not Tom. He's far too hot and cold with unfortunately more cold than hot. It's just when he's hot it gets a lot of attention.
I'd have taken the radical approach of playing an in form right back at right back(Clyne), ahead of a centre back who occasionally plays right back(Stones).
