solid 8 for me, very happy with the squad we've got now, I honestly don't think our squad would have been better if we had kept everybody, and just added a couple of players.
A voted 6. Transfer window includes outs as well an ins. We bought well, but we're probably no better than last season. But we do have a greater squad depth, so it's a 6, otherwise it would have been a 5.
Eight from me, which is remarkably good, from where we started. I would give the board a 10 for dealing with the problems of the mercenary lot, staying in control, getting the right manager and then supporting him with the money. And still keeping true to the principles of the Southampton Way
8 from me. I know we can't say definitively that we are better off, but the poll is asking how we rate it, which is asking our opinion. Sure, lot's of untested players at this level/league, but my opinion is that we have a better squad than we did.
I can only guess he thought 1 was top and 10 was bottom. I voted 8. Tbh, I don't like transfer windows. I can't remember why they were brought in anymore, but it seems to work in favour of clubs with the most money [which I guess favours us these days a bit]. Chelsea played it very well though. It's difficult to see where Saints could have played it better, too. When Saints get Bale back next season I'll give them a 10.
All in all it's been a good window. We got rid of big, but disgruntled players that didn't want to be here, and have replaced them with good players. I actually think we are stronger , in terms of squad depth.
I voted 9. Purely because of the games we've played, I don't remember once thinking "if only we hadn't sold x". To me we have replaced like with like/better. We haven't yet been awarded a penalty though....
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11448011.Ron_s_Toby_juggling/?ref=mac Article from the Echo about Ron's welcome problem of keeping the team happy now we have competition for every place. His defensive choice especially will be difficult unless he is a manager who truly rotates players to keep them fresh. Toby thinks he's playing judging from his interview, but where does that leave Gardos. Nice problem to have.
Gardos seemed very happy to join, I'm sure he's professional enough to accept he's not first choice, but will still get many games. Quite a few teams around our level have good quality back-up.
He may be that good, that very quickly he becomes first choice. If he looks strong in training and Ron thinks he is better than the others, he'll play him. I can envisage an interesting tussle between Gardos/Fonte/Toby and Gardos may end up being the first choice as he is left sided ... interesting times.
Our new CB is on Sky saying his name is difficult, but Toby will do. That's lucky, mate, none of us were planning to call you anything else.
Just been interviewed on Sky talking about other Belgian players in the PL, Toby's name is apparently pronounced without consonents. Imagine swirling mouthwash round your mouth and you will just about get it right. He usually plays RB for Belgium, but will play CB for the next match because of injuries. Belgium v Israel has been cancelled so he will be back house hunting on Friday. Came over well.
Got to be a 9 for me....This is the deepest (most expensive) in regards of quality that we have ever had. We have never before had a situation when we could field any 2 teams to play each other and there not be a significant gap between them.
